Chapter 19- What a Regretful Move!

Sonic's POV

'Hey Tails! Don't ya think you're going fast bud?' I questioned as Tails drove faster with the plane. I heard him chuckle,

'I thought you would enjoy this since you looove speed!'

'True, but remember what Y/N said, something bad might happen if we keep on using the plane including the fact that we are flying around at high speed.'

'Once this is over, wanna go for a flying speed for you, me and Y/N?'

"Awesome idea bro." For anything, I don't want my little brother to die here. Even if it means my death I rather let my life end up like that than let that happen to him. He means everything to me. My first dude that came to my life ever since.

Suddenly, I noticed Tails flying the plane downwards while still going on our own direction.

"Landing already?"

"I can see some weird black smoke coming from a distance away, since like what Y/N said, better not fly around in some areas that are dangerous."

"Oh.."

I actually agreed Tails was right. Not because of the black smoke, but I can feel something sorta weird going on here.

And then I knew it.

"Tails look out!" I dashed and pushed him away. Both of us happened to miss a huge red laser. I remembered Silv telling us that that was actually the laser that killed me in the first timeline, it definitely brought back some bad memories but I pushed that aside, I need to protect my buddy.

"Sonic, look!" I did and I noticed that there are tons of robots around us, but they don't seem to be built by Egghead, come to think of it, not like I really care but I wonder what exactly happened to him.. Those robots appeared to have purple aura around them and their shape looked very rusted. They seem to be used a long time ago and were abandoned and I guess Mephiles decided to use them to attack us.

"Tails, cover yourself. I know what to do."
"Huh? What?"
"Just do it."
Despite hesitating, he flew up to cover himself. I finally smirked to my first enemies. I knew whats coming from a familiar voice,

"Attack!"

And so just like running away from the black hole back then where I saved those wisps, that actually turned out to be worse than this. So I just happened to not think this was the end.. heh Mephy. It was like an awsome race and I was winning, I dodged all the possessed robots attacking me, that's what I wanna call them due to the purple aura so don't judge me and I finally destroyed all of them with triple of my spin dash attack. Once that was done, I dusted my hands of with a small whistle and saw Tails smiling at me with a thumbs up. He then flew next to me.

"Alright Mephy.. I wouldn't keep hiding if I were you. Can't you just show yourself already? You're wasting time, and are these robots are all you got?"
"Oh Sonic!" Tails marked with a facepalm out of nowhere. Then it clicked my head.. I should honestly stop saying these types of rhetorical questions to each and every enemy.

"In fact, it's you whom is wasting your time here.. I just wanna test you. It seems you have improved, but you're still always weak like before. And not only that, you just happened to keep on protecting that two-tailed fox. It doesn't seem he even trained once. You have him as part of your team and yet how can he even survive in battle?"

"Shut it, even so, because of that statement, you don't even get what teamwork is."

"Oh really?"

"What the, OF COURSE REALLY!"

"And why exactly did you even come here when the battles about to begin soon?"

"Well just like the love of my li- I mean.. Well.. whoever said this, war is war. There isn't any such thing as cheating, so why won't we find out what situation has been doing recently?"

"I see, and did you even knew what happened to the love of your life after you weakers left her?"

"W-wait, you know Y/N?" Tails stuttered and I gotta admit, I was a bit surprised that he actually knew her.

"Of course. Since the beginning. She's chosen for the Master Emerald's prediction. However, you fools don't even know what happened to her."

"She's with the rest of our team."

"But not anymore.. You will feel very angry in front of your friends once you know what just happened."

I heard an evil laugh from him after that. Seriously? I rather hear predictions from N/N than from Mephy..

"Just shut it Mephy.. you know this is useless.. isn't Iblis stronger than our emeralds here? Why would you want revenge with them for if you're just gonna lose anyway?"

"If that were true, then you wouldn't have beaten me with those emeralds after you've came back to life in the first place.."

"Yeah but that time I was using my own huge skills plus the help of Silv and Shadz."

"When are you going to quit responding back to me you son of a disgrace?"

"Uh until you stop talking?"

"Well. You've got me no choice then.. take this"

Mephiles shot a laser at me and I easily dodged. I better see what's he keeping in there.. but I only thought of that a lot that I didn't even notice my brother whos eyes shot wide open..

Mephiles targeted me a laser one last time and I jumped out of the way. Even though it was a good move to keep me from being hit.. I regret doing that and I actually wished I did get hit by that laser because he was behind me.. if I were the one who got hit, he would still be safe without even a scratch..

"TAILS NO!!!"

I watched, not being able to move an inch of my body, the laser shot him through his right shoulder and he fell backwards and got knocked out..

"This is what you get for talking too much Sonic the Hedgehog.. he can actually die from that if you don't do anything to him this minu- HUGH!"

"You're the one who deserves to shut up MEPHILES!! THAT WAS MY BROTHER WHO YOU JUST NEARLY KILLED!"

I angrily hit Mephiles hard with one of my powerful spin dashes and I sped quickly to my passed out brother. When I held him in my arms, I placed my side of my head on his chest..
Oh good. He's still alive. I thought after hearing his heartbeat. Driving on the plane again wasn't a good idea since we can possibly crash easily, so I sped with him in my arms somewhere safe. I should also make a fire to keep him warm since it's also getting bit chilly out of nowhere and I guess it's due to temperature change from what Mephiles brought us into.

God.. I literally felt too stupid to check what my brother was doing.. during the time where Tails was almost killed in the airplane crash because of burnbot, I promised him that I won't let anything like that happen to him again. But look what the hell did I just did. I let it happen again.. What should I even say to him when he wakes up?

Man. Tails, I'm sorry about this. I wanna tell you something about this and it will only keep you safer.. I hope you can forgive me bro.. this will take a while.

Author's note: Finally this is done despite it isn't that long.. I tried working this chapter as much as I could this weekend. Now time to work on the recap and then chapter 21!
