Jaspers pov

"I've got it I've got it" Ella's voice was starting to sound lethargic. Ella closed her eyes And laid her head back on the head rest of the seat. Why didn't she take her medication? Nows she's at risk again and the volturi could find her. I shouldn't be worrying about this, there's more important things to do right now.

"Your heads hurting isn't it" I stated as I got into the drivers seat and revved the engine. Emmet had lent us his car and said he would drop my bike off at home.
"Yes, just a little.... I can't see to focus on anything" I took her hand in mine and stroked her creases with my thumb.
"I'm sorry" I looked out of the wind shield as I saw the back of Edwards truck or was it Bellas, I'm not quite sure, I don't pay attention To those details.
"It's not your fault Jasper, you didn't know james was going to be a sadistic hunter"
Suddenly I felt a shudder as the something heavey landed on the top of our car.
"What was that!" I shouted on high alert as the car stop shaking. Jasper looked in the back mirror his face looked panicked for a split second but he seemed to relax.
"It's just Emmett, nothing to worry about" Jasper turned to me with a reassuring smile, he seemed to search my face and decided to speak but he was interrupted by Emmett

"Listen, we have a plan" he said hopping into the back seat and leaning between the two of us, separating our hands.
"What is it? What's the plan Cullen?" I turned to Jasper as he spoke and realised that the major was now in charge.
Emmet have a nod towards major in acknowledgment.

"So Bella is going to Charlies with Edward" Emmett began before major interrupted him.
"Why? We need to get them both out of town" I saw his nuckles turn white at the sound of Emmet sighing.

"Listen, we just have to go along with it if you want your dad to be safe Ella, it's the best thing for him... if james realises you've both left, then he won't go after Charlie" I nodded agreeing with him but major didn't seem to happy about anything, come to think of it major never seemed to be happy about anything ever. I wonder what could have made him like this.

"Alright, alright what do we do?" The major spoke keeping his eyes firmly on the road.
"So Edward and Bella are going to over to Charlies to collect some of Bellas things, Bellas 7nhappy because she's going to have to saying something that make Charlie not follow the two of you"

I shuck my head in confusion. Where does that leave me and Jasper?

"I don't understand where does that leave me and Ella?" Major asked before I could get a word in.
Emmett sighed and scratched the back of his head, I could tell he was nervous.

"Well... the plan is that once Bella leaves your house, Alice will ring you and the both of you need to rush into the house and pretend to be you know.... worried about Bella and say that you'll go after her and bring her home"

I gripped at the dash board and let out a breathy laugh.
"You do realise my dad's a cop right?... he's never going to fall for this shitty plan!" I shouted resting my throbbing head in my hands.

"God this is so fucked up!" I threw my fists against the dash board repeatedly.
"You better go Emmett, well stop here and wait for your signal" the major said as he nodded towards Emmett bringing the car to a slow stop.

"Alright, just wait for the signal don't go before or after... on the signal"

"Alright, alright can you just go.... can't you see my mates freaking out" major snapped slightly and Emmett was gone in a flash.
I shifted slightly in my seat, I'd never really had a decent conversation with this side of Jasper. The time I've spent with major has either ended up in us splitting up or fightingvlike cat and dog.

I jumped slightly as I felt a soft hand spread gently over the curve in my back as I was leaning forward trying to stop the spinning. It felt like my head was about to explode.
"It's hurting" the major said rubbing his hand gently on my back.

"It's burning, just burning" I stated enjoying the small minimal contact.

As soon as I leaned into his touch the major pulled his hand away quickly crawling back into his hard shell. I sighed wanting the contact of Jasper.
"Can I speak to Jasper?" I asked hoping the major would change back.

"No, not right now I can't risk it" he put his hands on the steering wheel and stared dead ahead. I let out a sob, I felt completely lost and hopeless. I just wanted Jasper.

"I'm sorry, I'm not good at this sort of stuff... I was... once" major held my gaze as he sighed.

"I was 17 when I decided to enrol in the army, as you know...when I turned 21... I was the youngest major in the Texas Calvary all without seeing any real battle... until..." major seemed to stumble over his words and stop. I grabbed his hand and he jumped slightly... but he grabbed mine tightly.

"Until?" I asked trying to push him slightly.

"Until I met a certain immortal... maria. I was ridding base to base after evacuating a colony of women and children when I saw them. I immediately offered them my aid, that was it... maria was creating an army... the biggest vampire army in the south... there were frequent battles for the territory of the south... maria won 'em all. She was smart, careful and she had me"

"You?" I asked confused.

"Yes me.... I was her second in command, my abilities to control emotions served her well. I trained her newborns, an endless occupation since she never let them live beyond the first year. It was my job to dispose of them, I could feel everything they felt"

Major turned to me with glassy eyes and continued.

"I thought what marria and I had was love... but I was just her puppet and she pulled the strings... I... i forgot about my old life... I forgot about you... Jasper no longer existed for years decades even... I'm not the man that you married all those years ago.... I'm damaged, cruel and worthless. For gods sake I loved another woman I could never be good enough... I'm tainted"

"None of that was your fault... you never have to be that again, just stay with me... always"

Major placed his hand on the side of my face. I leaned into his touch carefully as he leaned forward and pulled me into him so that I was sitting on his lap. He pulled me closer so that his head was in the crook of my neck. He smelled like the forest after a rain storm.
He lifted his head gently and our connected. I noticed for the first time that major had deep dark coal eyes where as Jasper had the usual honey eyes.

"I will protect you with my life... always" he said as our lips were within inches of eachother when suddenly the phone rang.

The major sighed before picking up.

"Yes we're on our way"
