To say that the thirteen minute (Not that I was counting) long ride to the hospital was awkward, would be a bit of an understatement.
We had decided to take Scott's truck. I love Scott and I'm grateful that he volunteered, but there was no way that I trusted him to take Aaron's exspensive charger without worrying he'd crash it just because.
So instead we're squeezed into his truck, me seated in between the boys. We didn't have the radio on and no one talked, so that definately added to the awkwardness.
The only thing that came out of my mouth was scolding Aaron every few moments to keep his hands tight against the towel. I was praying he wouldn't like, pass out from blood loss.
After what felt like forever Scott pulled into the parking lot of the hospital. He let me and Aaron out at the front entrance to go sign in while he found a place to park. Walking through the doors into the ER lobby calmed me a little.
At least Aaron could finally get some help. Obviously stitches were needed, but I was going to make sure he got something for pain as well. I was willing to go full bitch mode if necessary.
I explained to the nurse at the check in desk what was wrong and she gestured for us to take a seat. I kept a firm hold on Aaron's upper arm as we waited.
"Quite a strong grip you got there." he said with a chuckle. "Oh I'm sorry, did it hurt, I'm sorry." I mumbled, patting up to his shoulder. "No I'm fine, don't worry."
"How can you possibly be fine right now, did you see your palms?" I asked, maybe a little too loud. I blame the nerves.
"Woah Chloe, you're not about to flip out on me...Are you?" I gave him a withering look which only made him laugh again. "I don't understand how you can just be so calm over this." I said. "Hmm, maybe I'm in shock." He shrugged.
Scott came in and took a seat across from us. I smiled at him before turning back to Aaron. "So where is this 'Riley' friend anyways, you'd think he would have at least made sure you were okay..." "He did, but I convinced him I was totally fine."
"And he just believed you?" "Well, you know first hand just how persuasive I can be, don't you sweetheart?" He said, his tone was nothing but trouble, and I ended up blushing. I could practically hear Scott roll his eyes.
"Aaron Knight?" The nurse called. I bit my lip as he stood. Would he want me to come with him? Would it be pushy if I just went without asking- "Hey, you coming?" he asked, glancing down after realizing I was still seated.
I nodded, letting out a sigh of relief. "We'll be back in a little bit, kay?" I said to Scott. He nodded and pulled out his phone.
The nurse took us to a room down the hall and said the doctor would be in momentarily. Aaron sat on the cot while I stood towards the corner. The room was giving me a slight deja vu feel, like when Aaron had his asthma attack, or when Scott punched him. Ugh.
I'm so sick of him getting hurt. Especially when he hasn't done anything to deserve it. "You could join me over here you know." Aaron said, pulling me from my thoughts. I glanced over to see his eyes watching me intently.
"O-okay." Crap, I hadn't meant to stutter. He raised an eyebrow. I sat down on the edge of the cot, making him sigh. "Chloe, my hands can't exactly work the greatest right now, so please just scoot over to my side please." he said.
I moved back and into his side, his arm slinging over my shoulder the second I did. "Ah much better." He sighed, laying his head against my hair. I wrapped one arm around his waist, hugging him tightly.
"Are you in a lot of pain, please be honest." I whispered. "Hm, I can't really feel it too much right now, I think I might actually be in shock, or close to it." I nodded slowly.
"I know something that would make me feel a bit better..." "Mh hm, and what's that?" I asked, already knowing the answer. "Well..."
He leaned his head back and placed a kiss to my lips. I brought my hand up hesitantly to cup the side of his cheek gently. He sighed into the kiss, obviously pleased.
"Ahem." I pulled back quickly, blushing as the doctor came in. "Sorry to interupt but I need to have a look at my patient." He said, striding forward. I went to get up, give them some space, but Aaron practically clung to my side.
Instead I just leaned back out of the way. "Alright, let's see...Oh, hm these look pretty painful. You fell while riding a skateboard, right?" The doctor asked, still examining Aaron's palms.
"Yeah, I'm not very good." Aaron replied sheepishly. The doctor chuckled. "Well no need to worry, the right palm will only need about five stitches, but I'm afraid since the left is deeper you'll need, hm, about nine." I flinched slightly, fourteen stitches. My poor Aaron.
"I'll just need to clean the wounds off first with some medical alcohol..." The doctor sat on a stool in front of Aaron with a large swab, dabbing all the open cuts. If it hurt Aaron was doing a good job of hiding it. Probably for my benefit.
Once they were clean enough he numbed both his hands. (Sticking a needle in the open cuts because: "Why give you another hole when you already have plenty of open areas?")
It wasn't even happening to me and I felt like vomiting. Once the doctor started sewing I had to look elsewhere. I glanced at Aaron's face to see his eyes already staring down at mine.
Actually...They were staring at my lips in a hungry way that made my stomach clench and flood with heat. Who did he think he was getting me worked up while getting stitches? When I couldn't do anything to relieve the sudden heat and, oh God, desire.
I was feeling actual desire from him just looking at my own lips. I wanted to kiss him until I couldn't breathe, but there was a doctor present and I've certianly had enough awkwardness for one day.
His eyes finally flicked up to mine and he winked. That bastard knew exactly what he was doing. I gave him a 'I'm not playing that game any more' look and decided to stare off at the wall.
After a small eternity the doctor wrapped both Aaron's palms in thick gauze and gave him a prescription for some decent painkillers, and we were on our way.
Once out into the hall I rounded on Aaron and glared full on. "Just what the hell was that mister?" He blinked before laughing. "I don't know what you're talking about." He said, mock innocent.
"Uh huh, sure, play dumb but I know the truth, you were trying to get me to kiss you in front of the doctor, admit it!" I said, giving him a little poke in the chest. He kept walking.
"Chloe, why would I want to do that?" "Oh I don't know, to prove how 'persuasive' you are." I said sarcastically. His only reply was to smirk. "Oh my gosh, that's it isn't it?" I demanded. "Honey we both know I'm the most persuasive person either of us know, I don't need to prove it." He said.
Before I could respond he quickly covered my lips with his, giving me the kiss I had wanted so badly. I moaned in relief, making his mouth tug into a smile. "There, I kissed you, happy?" he asked, kissing me again, not really waiting for an answer. "Yes, thank you." I sighed when he pulled away.
We were back to the lobby now, Scott still seated playing on his phone, oblivious to the kissing that had just taken place only a few feet away. He glanced at Aaron's bandaged hands then to my face. "All ready to go?" he asked. Aaron was still smiling, and I'm guessing my face was flushed, but I nodded. "Yeah, let's go home."
