Caesar's POV~

I slowly peel my eyes open as the morning sun comes blasting through the red curtains. I blink a few times then rub my eyes, making things clearer.

I try to sit up, but my right arm is under something. I pull the cover slightly off of the figure then sigh. It's just April. I guess she came in here late last night again like she's been doing. I yawn, stretching out my arms then scratch my scalp. I get out of bed then take the ponytail holder from around my dreads, letting them fall onto my shoulders.

I throw on a shirt then walk over to April. "Sis," I shake her. "Time for school."

She turns over to me, yawning. "Sorry for coming in here in the middle of the night again without askin if I could sleep in her with you.." she mumbles in her tired voice. I shake my head. "It's koo..I know you have nightmares so you can sleep in here with me whenever you'd like."

She smiles, sitting up in my huge bed. "Thanks, bro. Can I use yo shower? Somethings wrong with the one in my bathroom."

I nod as she gets out of my bed. "Yea, jus don't take all of the hot water."

She chuckles, "I won't be long."

I nod as she walks into the hallway to go grab some towels. I walk to my dresser, grabbing my phone then look at the lock screen. It's 7:45am.

Of course I have no messages. I lock it, setting it back down then walk to moms room to check up on her.

Ever since Gorden got knocked she's been depressed. More depressed than I've ever seen her. April as well. I was scared that April had start cutting herself again and that mom was back to getting drunk everyday, but I won't allow any of that.

I'm kind of like the man of the house now and I gotta make sure that the women I love are okay. I gotta also protect them. April is short and fragile. I don't tower over her or nothing but I'm still taller. Mom is only a little taller than I am, but I can still protect both of them.

I stop at the entrance of moms huge door, hearing her on the phone. I peek in her room. She's sitting at the edge of her bed.

"Gorden, What makes you think I'm gonna help you? Fuck you!....no! call that other trick....wait what?.." her facial expression changes. "That's absurd, Gorden! Quit lying to me..." she stands from the bed.

"How much!?" She hollers in disbelief, quickly throwing her hand over her mouth. "....Gorden, I swear if you're lyin— Okay...I'll think about it.." She nods her head then ends the phone call.

I open her bedroom door, startling her some. "Shit, Michael." She gasps. "Sorry...I was jus coming to check on you." I tell her, standing in her doorway.

"Oh, I'm fine baby." She nervously chuckles.

I eye her suspiciously. That phone call sounded real interesting. "Who was on the phone?"

Her eyes widen some as she cringes her eyebrows. "That's none of your business. Don't forget who the parent is in this house." She sternly reminds me. I shake my head then sigh, throwing my hands up in defeat.

"Ight," I turn to walk out.

"Have a good day at school. Love you." Her words hit my back.

"I love you too, Mom." I tell her, turning around. I crack the door then pretend as though I'm walking off. I then peek through the crack, watching as she walks into her bathroom. She's hiding something and I can tell. I wait for about a minute or two. Wonder fills my mind. She's been in there for a hot minute now. I sigh in disappointment as she walks out holding a bottle of alcohol.
