From Ash to Gold (Sweet Pea x Reader )

Chapter. 5

     I wake up to the sound of the fire alarm blaring. I bolt out of bed and run down stairs to find that my dad is cooking breakfast and burnt the gravy. "Jesus dad! You almost gave me a heart attack, I thought the house was on fire!"
     "Sorry Y*N*, I thought I would be the master chef today since your mom will be in Oklahoma. Guess I was wrong." I can't help but laugh and sit at the table. One thing about mom is she could totally cook, dad not so much. As you can see he almost burned the house down cooking gravy. I could see it now, mom comes home to the house destroyed, us barely making it out alive , and the newspaper heading the next day: Local real estate agent F*N* burns house down cooking gravy. Oh man would mom be pissed. She'd probably leave dad if that ever happened.

     We eat breakfast, which was not bad at all, besides the gravy. It was just over kill. I finished, washed my plate, and headed upstairs to shower and plan something for the day. Then, I remembered the favor between me and Sweet Pea. I really hope he has something figured out so I can get it over with.

     I pick an outfit out, text Betty to see if she wants to hang out and then I jump in the shower. I'm not much of a singer, but when I'm in the shower, it's a full on concert starring me. I'm mainly happy about having my own bathroom because that's where I go to get away from everyone. 

    I rince my hair, wash my body, shave and get out. I get dressed and check my phone to see if B replied.

  "Yeah, meet me at pop's. We have to talk about Veronica.

    Veronica? Maybe B knows about this 'appointment ' she left school for yesterday. I head down stairs and let dad know where I'm going

Time Skip

     I arrive at pop's and go to the booth Betty is at.

     "Hey!", I say as I sit down.  "So what's up with Veronica? I saw she left yesterday for some appointment. Do you know what that's about? ."

     Betty gives me a worried look. "No, I was hoping you knew.  Somethings going on with her and I wonder if it's something to do with her mom and dad.  What if she is part of their family business now?." Pop comes by,  takes my order and heads back to the kitchen.  "Let's not get ahead of our selves,  ok? Something is definitely going on with her,  but let's not come to conclusions here.  I'll ask her if she can come by my house later and we'll ask her what the hell is going on with her,  why she had been disappearing on us,  ok?." Betty knods her head ok and we get off the subject. We start talking about yesterday at lunch about everything that happened. 

      "I just can't believe you stood up to Reggie like that.  I literally thought you were going to pounce on him. How did you even get the serpents to agree not to fight?." Betty says sipping her milkshake.

     "Well, we made it a favor. Which I still owe him his, but at least he did it. I'm just worried about what he wants. Hopefully he tells me today so I can get it done with."

     Betty give me this surprise look and says, " are you crazy? I can't believe you did that, but at least it worked. Just don't do anything that could hurt you." I just laugh and and drink my soda. I didn't tell her about the bathroom scene because I knew she wouldn't let me go through with anything he wanted.

     We get done with our milkshakes and soda, and head to the mall. We look around all the shops, some of our usual ones and check out the cute guys there. We leave the Mall and head to my house. I text and ask if she can come over so we can talk. While me and Betty wait, we play uno attack. Dad comes up and asks if we need anything. He brings up some chips and to sodas.

     I finally get a text from Veronica saying show me over in 10 minutes. Me and Betty finish our game and put everything up. Couple minutes later, Veronica shows up looking rushed.

"So, what do we need to talk about?."

     I look at Betty to see if she wants to start but she knods her head at me to begin. "Why have you been disappearing on us? We've barely seen you all week. So spill it."

     Veronica sighs and sits at my desk.  "Ok, I've been taking care of some business for daddy. Nothing dangerous or anything that could get me in trouble. Just simple errands."

     "Nothing that could get you in trouble? How about missing school to do these 'simple errands' to get you in trouble V..... What kind of errands?" Betty has crossed her arms and is very serious right now.

     "I'm just making sure some of daddy's business partners in New York are getting there money. Thats all I'm doing is giving there money to them. But I'm done now, no more errands. I swear." Veronica looks at both of us, and we could tell she meant it.

     "Why do you look so rushed?." Betty says.

     "Y*N* said it was urgent and I need to get to her house ASAP. I was with Archie, that's why I didn't reply so soon."  Ooh, she was with Archie. Oops.

    Now that we have all of that out of the way, we play uno attack, eat more snacks and gossip about everything. It's almost 1 in the morning when Veronica and Betty leave.

    I'm all comfy in bed and sooo relaxed but my phone goes off and I know it was Sweet Pea because I set a special ringtone for him. I roll over to the side with my night stand and check to see what he sent.

          I know what I want now. You have to do it to be even. ;)(;
