Chapter 1: You mean like an actual school?
"We leave in 10 minutes Zanda" dad says as I pack up the last of my items and I place them in the car.
Throughout my whole life , I've been shifting and travelling from state to state, mostly due to the fact that my dad constantly has to travel for his job, or so he tells me, but I think it's because of me. Once my dad sees that I'm getting too comfortable with the people around me, he'll make an excuse and say that we have to move again.
We drive in the car as I sit in the backseat and I stare out the window as my dad drives us out of the state. We'll be travelling for 6 hours but I never feel the distance because as soon as I get in the car, the first thing I always do is sleep.
"Zanda-Zanda" I feel someone slightly shakes me as my eyes open immediately, taking out the earphones that are plugged in my ears.
"Get up , let's grab something to eat" dad says as he opens the door and I mimic his actions.
We walk towards the small restaurant/cafe. The bell jingles as we open the doors.
"Go get a table while I go order for us" dad says and I simply nod as I go by the corner near the window. I sit down by the booth as I stare as the sun sets.
My head wanders as my eyes meet a boy, looking at me. He smiles at me but I just look away and I distract myself from playing with the button of my jean jacket. One of the cleaning ladies comes up to me and delivers a note.
"Uhmmm?" I ask confused.
"He said I should deliver it to you" the lady says as she points at the cute boy who is looking at me.
I let my head wander as I try to spot my dad. Last thing I need is an interrogation. I open the note that's written on a tissue.
°smile a little, it's a crime for beauties like you to frown.°
I read the note just as my dad sits opposite me. I quickly crumble the tissue in my hand.
"What's that?" He asks.
"Nothing" I reply casually but he grabs the tissue in my hand and I sigh. He reads the note and I cannot tell what he's thinking about. His face shows no emotion, as always. Then his eyes shift to look at me.
"Do I need to preach the same thing over again?" He asks in a serious tone.
"No dad, I understand clearly, that letter is harmless and it doesn't mean anything." I explain to him.
I start fidgeting with the button of my jean jacket again as I silently pray that my dad drops this topic.
"This is how it all starts Zanda, it's how it all starts." He says just as the number for our order is called and he gets up to fetch it.
After a few seconds he comes back with a tray with a cheese burger and fries for me and a bubblegum milkshake with a water on the side. And for him he got a dagwood with slap chips and a coke.
