The sun peeked through my cotton, white curtains, cascading over my bare face as the morning approached. A bird's chirp became muffled as the window blocked out most of the sound. I released a soft grunt, fluttering my eyes open and glancing towards the digital, white clock on my nightstand beside me.

When nine came into view, I rubbed my tired eyes, extracting the exhaustion from the corners. A yawn came over my lips as well, bringing my mouth wide as I threw the white duvet to the opposite side of the bed.

The urge to turn on the coffee pot and start some fresh bread became prominent, causing my mouth to water like I was a hungered animal. I hopped off the bed, becoming hyperactive at the thought of food and drinks. My feet patted against the wooden floor, composing small bunny like hops sounds as I approached the door.

The metal handle was cold on my hand, but I yanked it open, feeling the grin stretch over my face.

However, preparing to see an empty apartment on the fine Sunday morning wasn't fulfilled. But rather, my indisgressive looking best friend stop mid-step, snapping her head towards me with this odd guilt in her eye.

I quirked my head to the side, utterly confused on why she held so much emotion in her face. Aviary tried to recover herself, masking the expression and changing it to a forged nonchalant gaze. She folded her arms over her chest and cleared her already-cleared-throat.

"What are you doing up?" Her voice was overly animated, having this higher tone to her words. I furrowed my brows for a moment, taking a couple steps away from my door and bestowing an eccentric look on my features.

"I usually wake up around nine," I said with an immense amount of suspicion in my voice.

She opened her mouth and nodded her head slowly, watching me intently as I approached the perimeters of her. I raised a single brow, immoderately gazing at her appearance in question. But before I could interrogate her, there was a bulky knock on the door, capturing my attention.

Aviary's eyes widened with a muted dismay, watching as she gulped down an immense amount of stress. It was still evident in her character, seeing her hair slightly shiver with concern, while her eyebrows creased in guilt.

"Av-"

"It's not what you think, Amelia. It's exactly how it used to be, you know? I'm not looking to just hook up with the guy and hurt your feelings," Aviary stops her hasty rant and sucks in a breath, closing her eyes tightly.

She then slowly clicks her thigh high boots to the door, giving me a despondent look before wrapping her manicured fingers around the front door handle. She yanked it open with a swift movement and revealed a very fine man, who caused my breath to hitch.

FLASHBACK

"Honestly I can't believe Mr. Jeffers never took you to his back closet," Aviary wiggled her suggestive eyebrows at me, wearing this pompous smirk on her glossed lips. She had been referring to the hot new professor that everyone had a minor crush on, straight or not.
