One Year Later...

The time had passed through a mere blink of the eye, sending my life in many directions I couldn't quite comprehend at first. It happened earlier in the year, however, something I'm grateful for since I could adjust better.

James didn't want me living away from him any longer, and lucky for him, Aviary's and I's lease was coming to a close on the apartment. The subject of moving away from each other always sat on the tip of my tongue, but her bubbly giggles and endless smiles sort of made it swallow to the back of my throat.

But a week away from moving, Aviary and I sat on the couch, drinking wine and talking about the shit happening in our lives. I admitted that I had been dancing around the subject of moving, because James had offered for me to stay with him from now on (which I practically already lived there).

Aviary's eyes went wide for a moment, until the wash of relief fell over her face. She told me that Ayden wanted her to move in with him and she was too scared to tell me as well. We got a good laugh out of that before drunkenly beginning to throw our stuff into boxes. We fought over a couple negligible items, stubborn until one of us let up.

I still don't know where I put my favorite candle...

It was odd living without my best friend, seeing as I grew sort of a dependence on her. We had stuck by each other's side since high school for god's sake--living together since we were eighteen.

I remember the first week living away from her, she called me to complain about something my brother did around the house. She had told me I was nothing like him and she missed me more than she ever anticipated. I chuckled and told her my honesty, knowing I had missed her equally as much.

At work, Westin had moved up to an editor and chief, allowing Vanessa to relax more and just overlook the company as the owner. To my advantage, Vanessa promoted me to Westin's old position, making me one of the main publishers. It was hectic and stimulating, leaving me with the full comprehension as to why I would do so much for him.

I couldn't help but feel substandard, but I subsciously made Georgia my own me at my job. She would do my summaries and fetch me coffee when I literally couldn't handle it myself. She was so sweet and delicate too, making it even harder to disrupt her during her work.

James and I's relationship had been skyrocketing, better than I had ever anticipated. Now that all our feelings were on the table, and we had grown so much closer as people, it was like a breeze. He had been so easy to live with as well, naturally being a good cook and cleaning up after himself.
