The flickering lights invaded the dimmed car, reflecting onto Aviary's black dash board and skimming across her singing face. She moved her body to the beat of her songs, completely ignoring my questions and my amused glances. She had been doing it on purpose.
We started to descend more and more closer to the east side of downtown, where most of the skyscrapers had been located-including James's. My eyes peered over the glass building, pulling a small frown to my lips as the events briefly flooded my brain.
I did my best to push them to the back of my mind, clearing my throat and sitting all the way back in my seat. Aviary noticed my discomfort, instantly turning the dial on her volume to low and gazing towards me.
"What's wrong?" She inquired, sort of winded from her belting.
I flickered my saddened eyes over to hers, seeing the pure concern hinted in her electric blues. "I went over to James's family's house, pretending to be Westin's girlfriend while James's new girlfriend was there."
Aviary sucked in a gasp, completely cutting off Christina Aguilera and giving me a crazed glance, "No you fucking didn't! Amelia," She pouted her lips out sympathetically, "You can't do that to yourself. That probably cut deep."
"Surprisingly," I tilted my head, thinking on it, "It didn't hurt as much as I thought. I think I actually got some closure from it. Westin kissed me in front of him and James punched the wall."
Aviary let out another shriek, slamming her painted fingers against the steering wheel, "Holy shit! I didn't know you would go that far."
I chuckled, gazing away from her and seeing the desolate streets. It had been a Tuesday night, nobody really roamed the streets or even really went for dinner. Most of the time, people ate at their houses or cooped up in their homes during the weekdays, putting most of their energy towards their workday.
Which made me furrow my eyebrows and turn to Aviary, not having her full, undivided attention. "So, where the hell are we going?"
I started towards the eccentric blonde, watching this devious smile morph on her bare lips. She side-eyed me, releasing a throaty giggle from her chest, "Do you remember my boss Gwen?"
I creased my eyebrows in confusion, but nodded, bewildered on where it was going.
"Well," She breathed, glancing at me, "I-might-have-volunteered-you-to-be-her-model-because-the-other-one-canceled."
I stared at her for a moment, trying to cognitively digest the stringy words together. And after it registered in my brain, I snapped my eyes to her, sucking in a gasp and hitting her shoulder. "You did not!"
Aviary gave me a grimace, and vigorously rubbing her shoulder, having this nervous laugh echo throughout her car. I continued to stare at her, having my eyes widened and my breath hitched, waiting for her answer. She glanced at me again, apprehensiveness in her toothy smile.
