"So what happened" Isabelle asks Corbyn once they get in her car

"I-I was leaving the bathroom and Ky-Kyle shoved me back in and started hitting me. And I asked why and-and he said I stole you from him. And that you guys were supposed to date"

"Oh my god that is awful... I absolutely hate whoever that kid is"

"No you don't. Weren't you supposed to date him"

"I don't even know who that is so him saying that makes no sense "

"He was going to ask you out when we got back but I ruined it"

"Well he's a dick and I don't like people like that trust me."

They get to Isabelle's house and go to her room

"My eye hurts" Corbyn tells Isabelle

"I'll go get you ice okay. Lay down and try to sleep"

Isabelle goes to her kitchen and gets some ice

"Isabelle what are you doing home?" Isabelle's mom asks when she sees her in the kitchen

"Oh we-"

"Who's we"

"Me and Corbyn. Anyways I was waiting for him to go to the bathroom before we went to class and while I was waiting I guess he left the bathroom but some kid pulled him back in and started beating him up and he was in so much pain that I decided it'd be better to just come here. We left before the first bell even rang"

"He said his eye hurts and I see a lot of dried blood on his lip plus there's a big cut"

"Okay next time just tell me when you're coming home"

"I'm going to work now, can you call Corbyn's mom and tell her everything"

"Did someone order ice" Isabelle says trying to make Corbyn happy

"Me" Corbyn mumbles from under her bed covers

She removes the covers from his face and replaces it with ice

She lays down next to him and plays with his hair hoping to relax him

"I'm sorry. Is there anything I can do to help you feel better"

She kisses his cheek and gets as close as she can without him being hurt

"Can we watch a movie?"

She gets her laptop and pulls up netflix

"Tell me when you see one you like" she tells Corbyn as she scrolls through the movies

"Disney movie please"

She searches Disney and finds a whole bunch of movies

"I like that one" Corbyn points to beauty and the beast

"Okay let's watch it"

"You remind me of Belle"

"Well my name is IsaBELLE"

"Did you know Belle means beautiful. Maybe that's why you're so beautiful"

"Okay let's watch it now please"

"Hey, you didn't say I love you back"

"Okay movies on"

"Are you hungry?" Isabelle asks at lunch time

"Yes"

"What do you want"

"Pizza"

"Okay what kind. You have to clarify"

"Okay I'll decide then"

She orders a pepperoni pizza and waits for it to come.

It finally arrives and she goes down to get it

"I'll be right back okay"

"Wait no don't leave me"

"I'm getting the pizza I'll be right back"

"Ugh fine"

She gets the pizza and quickly goes back to Corbyn

"See I didn't leave you"

"Good I was worried"

"You have to call your mom and tell her what happened"

"Noooo. She'll never let me see you again"

"You're supposed to protect me not let me get hurt"

"Huh? Since when"

"When we first started dating your mom and my mom talked to me and said that now that we were together I had to rely on you. And your mom said that if I ever get hurt on your watch she would allow my mom not to let us be together. And they agreed"

"So that's what I am to you. Your protector."

"I guess. I don't really know"

"Oh okay I get it. You're not dating me cause you like me. You're dating me so you don't get hurt anymore. Your mom probably forced you to ask me out so you'd have someone. All this time I thought we were together cause you liked me. I can't believe it these 3 years have been an absolute joke. Do you understand how many times I get told you're not good enough for me but I stick up for you. I love you Corbyn and you just think of me as a shield."

"What no that's not what I'm saying" Corbyn says getting frustrated

"Okay here's the truth yes they did make me ask you out but then I fell in love with you. I love you more than anything"

"We aren't breaking up. We're taking a break. I just need time away"

This escalated quickly and made me sad
