"It's him." my friend Raelyn muttered.

I stood up straight and ran to the bathroom in a hurry. "Thanks," I muttered.

I leaned against the door of the girls' bathroom, safe.

Every time my crush, Percy Jackson, came around, I'd come up with some random excuse to go somewhere else. I knew Raelyn would get suspicious, but I wanted to hold off from telling her as long as I could. One day, she stepped up and asked me.

Flashback

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing." I responded.

She stared at me for a minute before deciding, "You like Percy."

"Shhh!" I whisper-shouted, a lush flaring on my cheeks.

"It's true then."

I didn't say anything.

"I knew it."

Back to Reality

Ever since, Raelyn had made sure I could get away before Percy saw me. I don't think he even knew my name.

Raelyn had tried to set me up with Percy, though he was so oblivious, it went right over his head. Raelyn talked to him incessantly, resulting in a deep bond forming between the two. I could hear them talking now.

Raelyn: Hey Percy, what's up?

Percy: *chuckles* The sky.

Raelyn: Ugh! Percy!

Percy: Dunno.

Raelyn: Gonna study for the Greek test tomorrow?

Percy: *face palm* Gods, that's tomorrow?

Raelyn: Yeah.

Percy: I do then. Wanna come over for a study session? AT my place? You can invite some friends. It'd feel kinda deserted if we were the only people there. Kinda like an awkward not-quite date.

Raelyn: *laughs* That would be awkward.  Speaking of which, who are you taking to the prom? Have you asked anyone?

Percy: I-

Raelyn: I think I know someone you'd like.

Percy: A matchmaker now, are you?

Raelyn: I always have been.

The bell rang.

Percy: See you. Text me who you're bringing so I know how much food to get. You know where to meet me. If people need pick-ups, just let me know.

Raelyn: Bye!

I came out of the bathroom. Raelyn was grinning. I flashed a thumbs-up.

"I did it!" she said excitedly.

I smiled. "You did. Thanks."

Time Skip

Raelyn said I didn't have a ride, so I could ride with Percy. I climbed into the back seat to see Percy talking to someone who was sitting in the passenger seat.

Percy said "Hi," before going back to talking to the girl.

"You're so immature!" the girl groaned.

"Please, Miss Know-It-All!"

"Mr. Know Nothing!"

"Feathers!"
