Peter couldn't believe his luck. He had entered a science competition and won it easily. He shouldn't be surprised, Ned told him. He was a genius.

The prize for winning was a one day trip to Stark Tower, where he would be invited to take a look at all the crazy tech there and take inspiration from it. Best part of it was getting to meet Tony Stark himself.

Peter was a nervous mess as the limo parked in front of the tower and his door was opened. He expected to see Tony right there in front of him, but instead he was brought inside by his driver. His name was Happy.

Peter was gawking at the high ceilings and glass walls as he strode in. This was where the Avengers met. Thor probably stood right where he was. Peter felt sick all of a sudden.

"I don't care what her schedule looks like. It's important to me that we find him. He's sort of gone! No. No! Okay. Whatever."

Peter's eyes widened. As soon as he looked up from the floor, he saw Tony Stark. He felt his mouth go dry as he remembered that he'd have to speak to the man.

Tony stopped when he saw Peter. Confusion crossed his face, bringing his eyebrows together and narrowing his eyes. Happy mouthed science competition and he let out a soft, "Oh."

"I hate to break off this conversation here, but I've got work to do," he said. "Uh-huh. Sure. You'd better. Yeah. Uh-huh." He pulled the phone from his ear and ended the call.

Peter swallowed.

"You must be Peter Parker," he said, stepping forward with his hand out. "What a pleasure. Your project really impressed me, kid."

"T-Thank you, Mr. Stark," he said. "It's an honor to be here-"

"I bet," he said quickly. He gestured for Peter to follow. He did so without hesitation. "You're one of the first kids ever to even step foot in this place. So savor it - and did Happy take your phone? We don't want any pictures taken of this place."

"Oh, yeah. Yeah, he did. And I wouldn't..."

"I know. Good kid, science nerd, can't do anything wrong. I know." He stepped in front of a door and waved Peter in. "This is the lab you'll be able to explore. There are people here to help you, of course, so-"

"Dad?"

Peter was admiring a wall of technology when he heard your voice. He turned his head, expecting anything other than what happened.

He looked at you, the girl in the doorway, and his heart flipped in his chest. His eyes widened and the lab around him grew dim. Suddenly it wasn't the screens and computers that caught his eye, but you.

You had his full, undivided attention and you weren't even aware of his presence yet.

"I thought you were with your mom," Tony said tiredly.

"Dad, it's Monday. I'm here on weekdays," you said. You sighed and rolled your eyes. "Anyway, I just came in here to say that Steve called. I figured that was important."

"Probably," he said, nodding. He put his hands in his pockets. "Okay. Thanks, sweetie." He turned to Peter. "Oh! You're still here. Just... observe. Don't touch. I might be back."

You looked around your dad and saw the young boy standing in front of the computers. His eyes were on you like you were the most interesting person in the world.

Your dad walked around you, pausing briefly to lay an affectionate, fatherly hand on your shoulder. You turned your head towards him and smiled.

The kid was still looking at you.
