Peter knew that he was going to be forced into a Beauty and the Beast themed costume the moment you made him watch it with you for the twelfth time in a month.
He would never say so, but he really liked both versions of the movies. He liked watching them with you. They made you so happy and you knew every word to every song - meaning it was always a lot of fun during the Be Our Guest scene.
So when you came over to his apartment with an armful of blue fabric, thread, and a horribly made Beast costume, he really should not have been surprised.
"You can't be serious," he said, shaking his head as you held up the hanger, showing off the long blue coat with matching pants.
"Oh, I'm very serious about this," you assured him. "I want to be a Disney princess, so please be a Disney prince."
He sighed and rolled his eyes.
"Now, I bought this costume at the Halloween store but I'm going to touch it up a bit. This is the wrong color blue. Don't you think this is the wrong color blue?"
"Uh... I don't know," he said, but he did know, and it was. "Um. I don't have to wear a fake beard or anything for this, do I?"
"No," you said, stifling a giggle. "As much as I would love for you to dress in a full out Beast costume, we will settle for just the prince." You held it up against his body. "Babe, you're gonna look so cute!"
He raised an eyebrow, smiling adoringly at you.
Aunt May came in through the front door, a bag of fast food in her hands. "Hey, kiddos," she sang out, waving the paper bag. "Got you two some double cheeseburgers-" She turned into the living room and cocked her head to the side, smiling curiously at the costume pressed against Peter's chest. "Oh, how cute! For the Halloween dance at school?"
"Uh-huh."
"Is he a Disney prince?"
"The Beast," you said.
"Oh, how fun!" She sat the bag on the counter behind her and shrugged out of her coat. She swayed slightly as she hummed, "Tale as old as time..."
Peter groaned. "May."
She giggled. "You two are gonna look so cute!" she exclaimed before hurrying off.
You looked at Peter. "She's right. You're gonna look so cute."
"Well, if you say so," he joked, smiling when you laughed.
...
Peter felt beyond stupid as he walked up to your front door, dressed in a full out blue suit complete with shiny black dress shoes and slicked back hair. In his hands was a single red rose - his idea (and one that he was proud of).
He knocked on your door, glancing at the cluster of pumpkins on the porch step and the ghost shaped lights hanging above the door. He heard the lock click and the door was yanked open, revealing your mother, a purple sweater on her torso.
"Peter!" she exclaimed, then, looking behind her, "___, honey, it's Peter!"
"Just a second!" you called.
"You look so great," your mother gushed. "Oh. And you brought her a rose? Peter, she is going to cry." She touched a hand to her chest. "Unfortunately, I can't stay and witness it because I forgot to buy candy!" She grabbed her jacket. "Have a good time tonight!"
"We will," he said, stepping inside as she stepped outside, shutting the door behind her.
Peter blinked, walking out of the doorway and into the living room that was glowing orange with several different pumpkin scented candles.
