Peter was on his feet and he was moving faster than he ever had before.

He wished he had Karen with him to settle his nerves. There was nothing to attach his web to as his feet sank into the dirt and grass and launched himself forward.

Just before Peter could stop Vulture and send him to prison where he belonged, the guy got free. He broke from the bounds he was tied in and soared up into the stars, declaring that Peter had missed his chance and would now pay the price he was threatened with before.

Peter's heart had been in his throat since he saw Vulture take off towards the school, where homecoming was just ending.

If he was lucky, you would be out of there and gone. But Peter was never really lucky. He had lost several fights, had his suit taken away, and had to ditch his girlfriend at their first homecoming.

Peter pulled out his phone with shaky hands and dialed Ned. He knew he would answer right away; his friend was currently in the library, helping any way he could.

"Hey, Pete," Ned said. "How's it going? Did you win?"

"Vulture is coming to the school," he said, his voice panicked. "I don't know if I'll get there in time but you have to get ___ out of that school before he does something to her!" Peter's voice cracked at the end.

Ned's tone had never been more serious. "I'm on it."

Peter hung up at the same time a building came into range. He shot his wrist out and soared above the intersection. He landed on a roof and ran across, leapt over the gape overlooking the highway, and swung again.

If anything happened to you...

...

You were sitting on the bleachers, sadly picking up trash off of the floor. The dance was over but you, being part of the homecoming committee, were forced to stay after and clean alone. Well, if Peter had actually stayed at the dance, he would have helped.

"___! ___!"

You picked up a cup off the floor and stood up straight slowly, eyes narrowing as you saw Ned run in through the doors.

"Ned?" you asked.

He ran over to you. Breathlessly, he grabbed your hand, yanking the bag of trash out of your grip. "___, you have to come with me right now."

"What? Why?"

"It's dangerous and I can't explain!" He pulled on you, desperation clear in his voice. "I need to get you somewhere before-"

The glass windows shattered. You gasped and ducked down as pieces rained on top of you and Ned. He never let go of you, not even when the giant bird guy perched up on the edge of the window and swooped down, talons out.

You screamed. Ned called out your name, gripping you tighter. Still, the claws grabbed you by the shoulders and lifted you off the floor.

"___!"

"Ned!" you cried out. "Please don't let me go!" With Vulture pulling on your shoulders and Ned holding your hand, it became increasingly more difficult to keep a tight grip.

"I won't!" he promised.

Vulture brought his wing in, curling it around his body. Then, with a fast flick, he knocked it against Ned and sent your best friend flying into the bleachers.

"Ned!" you cried, watching the boy land hard on his back. Vulture began to fly you back to the window he came from. "Ned, no-"

Much to your relief, Spider-Man appeared on the window. Vulture slammed to a stop, still holding you painfully by your shoulders. You cried out Peter's name.
