You tried not to be jealous of Peter, really.
You tried.
Peter was new around Stark Tower. You knew your dad liked him because he was smart in areas you weren't. He understood things you never could understand. You liked reading and writing and your dad liked to build robots and create giant companies and teams of superheros in high-tech suits-
You just weren't as smart as they were.
You sighed, wallowing in your own self pity as you clutched the bowl of chips a little closer to your chest. On the screen played Hercules, one of your favorite Disney movies. You hummed along with Go the Distance, popping a chip in your mouth. Peter was somewhere in one of your dad's labs, working on a brand new suit. You scowled every time you heard one of them laugh.
You were really trying to not be jealous.
Thing was, though - that was your dad.
You look another chip and sighed, trying to focus on Hercules getting scooped up in the stone hands of the Zeus statue.
"Hey, it's Hercules. I love that movie!"
You turned your head. Behind the couch came Peter. He walked around the sofa and grinned at the screen. The Go the Distance reprise played and he smiled wider. "This movie is so great," he said.
"You like Disney movies?" you asked.
"Yeah, duh," he said. "Why wouldn't I?"
"I... don't know," you said, slightly embarrassed. You'd talked to Peter a couple of times - and a couple of times only. You didn't know him at all. "I thought you only liked science. Like my dad. He hates Disney movies."
"Oh, yeah?" he asked, laughing a little. "Nah, I like Disney movies. Although my favorite is Big Hero 6. I know, ha-ha. The science nerd likes the movie about the science nerd superheroes."
You smiled. "It does make sense. Meet the Robinsons, though..."
He pointed at you. "That is a great movie."
"Because of the science nerds?" you teased.
He laughed, then ducked his head. "Can I sit?" He gestured to the sofa.
"Oh, yeah," you said, scooting over. "Sure."
He plopped down next to you and put his feet up on the coffee table. Phil came up on the screen and he laughed. "I love that guy," he said.
You looked at him and smiled. "Me, too. He's funny." He nodded. You didn't notice you were still watching him until he looked at you, eyebrows raised. You blushed and looked back at the screen. "Sorry. It's weird watching with someone. Like I said, my dad... doesn't do stuff like this with me."
"That's too bad," he said. He sighed and crossed his arms over his chest, getting comfortable next to you. "Your dad is awesome though. I... I like to think that my dad would have been like that, if I ever knew him."
Your heart squeezed. You felt bad for ever resenting this boy. This boy, who loved your father so much because he didn't have one.
You handed him the chips. "Want some?"
He turned his head and smiled warmly. "Thanks," he said, taking a handful.
And just like that, you liked Peter Parker.
...
"Peter!"
You shot webs across the road and felt your feet leave the ground. The wind rushed by you, throwing your hair back. You had been Spider-Woman for almost a year now but still hadn't gotten over the rush of leaving the ground. You landed on the top of a warehouse, where a gang war was going on inside. Also, inside, Peter, who was scoping out the place before you both went in to save the three captives.
