a long time ago during the era of the fourth sun, the sun of water, many people began to become very iniquitous. They started to ignore the worship of the gods. They decided that they wanted to live without them and stated wrongful things about their loyalty to the gods. Many of the gods became very angry at the people. They were appalled at the fact that they were being treated with such disrespect. Most of them wanted to show the people that they needed them including Tlaloc, the god of rains.
He announced that he was going to destroy the earth with a flood, he was going to destroy everything the people loved to prove to them that they needed the gods. The people however didn't believe him. They said he was a liar and a fool and they continued to ignore the worship of the gods anyway.
So he set his plan in action, but he made some exceptions. He was very fond of a devout couple. Their names were Tata and Nena. He told them to beware of the flood and how to survive within its wrath.
He told them to find a great log and hollow it out for them to stay in. He then told them to find two ears of corn. One for each of them, and to take only that corn and eat nothing more then that.
So the two did so, when the rain started to come down hard and even harder. They set in their log and ate only the ears of corn they have picked. They sailed in their log for days upon days until finally the rain had begun to subside and their log had come up upon new, dry land.
Tats and Nena were so happy that they had survived that they had jumped for joy and cheered gratefully as they hugged tightly. They were so incredibly happy in fact, that they had forgotten Tlaloc's orders and had decided to catch a fish.
They cooked the fish over a small fire and shared the meal happily. However it was then when they realized that they had disobeyed Tlaloc. They looked at each other in panic but it was too late for them.
For Tlaloc had come down to visit to them and there was no shock when they saw the anger in his face.
"This is how I am repaid for saving your life?" Is the last thing he said before he turned Tata and Nena into two dogs.
At that point, even the most noble and righteous people became more and more disobedient and disrespectful towards the gods. So the rest of them including Tlaloc wasted no time destroying what was left of the earth that was then ushered into the present era of the fifth sun.
