Chapter Eighteen

Melanie's Pov

' I wonder what Erik 's up to,' I thought to myself. Laying in bed in the darkness with nothing but the light from my phone, lighting up my room. I know it was late, but I just couldn't sleep, I have my phone in my hand, with Erik's number on the screen. 'Maybe I should call him? I mean  he may need  to be comforted after what happened today.'

I shook my head and sighed, putting my phone down on my bedside table. 'What am I thinking?  He  is a hot, popular guy and I'm just Mel, a geek, a nobody.'

I was just about to fall asleep when my phone buzzed, I frowned,  'Who would be texting me this late?'  I picked up my phone and to my surprise  it   was Erik!

Hey, what you up to? :)

I was still a bit surprised but i smiled and messaged him back.

Hey, not much really, you? :)

I sat up and waited until I heard my phone buzz again,

Nothing  at all :)

I was about to reply but I got another message  before I  could.

Look,  I know I have been a bit of an oblivious jerk, but to be honest.....I like you. A lot.

My eyes widened with shock, 'Could this be true?' I thought considering it. The sound of my phone buzzing  constantly, pulled me out of my thoughts. Caller I.D. showed it  was Erik. I took a deep breath and answered.

"Hello?"

"Hey," his voice sounded gruff,  as if he had just slept before he started texting me.

"What's up?" I asked.

"Did you get my last text?"

"Oh, yeah I did," I was so lost in thought I forgot to reply.

"Sooo?  Crushing on me since primary school huh?" I could hear the smirk on his face as he spoke to me.

"Uh, yeah, I guess," I stuttered.

"You do know that the only reason I didn't remember you, was because I haven't seen you since primary school. You look so different now, then you did then. Honestly, I liked you in primary school too."

I was shocked to hear this, "R-really?"

"Yeah,  I just didn't do shit about it, I am sorry, Mel."

"Don't worry about it," I smiled.

"Wanna hang out tomorrow?" He asked nervously.

"Sure!" I was so happy to hear this from him.

"About 10?"

"Nothing better to do."

"Great, well then I'll see you tomorrow."

"Okay, goodnight," I was about to hang up  when he replied.

"Goodnight Beautiful."

The beeping from my phone indicated he had hung up, I was sitting there blushing and I put my phone down, and tried to fall asleep.

'I can't wait until tomorrow,' was my last thought before I dozed off.

*Next Day*

Still Mel's Pov

The sunshine coming through my window woke me from the best sleep I have had  in ages. I  looked at my phone to see I had an hour and a half to get ready.

I got up out of  bed and went to the bathroom for a shower. While I was in there, I heard Forest banging on the door, "DON'T YOU DARE USE ALL THE HOT WATER!"

I rolled my eyes and after another  two minutes, I was out and wrapped myself in a towel. I went through the door that connected to my room and  picked out my favourite denim black shorts and a sleeveless yellow shirt. I pulled on my clothes and then went back into the bathroom to apply  a little lip gloss to make my lips shine. I unlocked the other door and called out to my cousin. "THE BATHROOM IS FREE!"

"About bloody time," Forest came into the bathroom and looked me over. She frowned at me, "Where are you off to?"

"I'm hanging out with someone," I walked out of the bathroom and grabbed my shoulder  bag and threw in my deodorant, hairbrush and my purse.

"Your loser friends, I'm guessing." I shook my head at her.

"First of all, my friends aren't losers, and second of all, no, I am hanging out with Erik if you must know."

I left the room, leaving Forest speechless. I walked into the kitchen and popped in some toast and pulled out the butter and Vegemite. When my toast popped out, I spread the butter and Vegemite onto it and began to eat it.

"Well, isn't someone up early?" i turned and smiled at my aunt.

"Aha, yeah, I know, I am meeting up with someone at ten."

"Ooo who might that be?"

I smiled and blushed a little, "Erik Moore."

"The boy you have been obsessing over since primary school?" She winked at me, "well you have fun then."

" I will," I replied and finished eating my toast before going to the bathroom again to brush my teeth.

My  phone buzzed in my pocket  and i pulled it out and answered it without checking caller I.D.

"Hello?"

"You ready?" Erik's voice filled my ear and i smiled.

"Yeah, where are you?"

"At your front door."

"Oh right, I'll be there in a second."

I heard him knock on the door, "I'll get it!"

I was already beaten to the door by Forest. "Oh hey there, whore."

I sighed and and went to the door, "Move Forest," I pushed her out of the way and walke dout the house closing the door in her face.

"Sorry about that," I looked down at my feet."Don't worry about it,"  He lifted my chin up so I would look at him, "Forest has always been a bitch to me."

I gave him a small smile, "So, where are we going?"

"Where ever you  want," he returned the smile and grabbed my hand intertwining his fingers with mine.

I could feel my face go red and looked away, "ummm let's go to the mall."

"Okay sure," he kept hold of my hand as we walked to the mall, which was twenty minutes away.

When we reached the mall, I spotted two familiar faces and smiled. I walked over to them, pulling Erik behind me.

"Well isn't nice to see you two here," I said as they also spotted me.

Aish and Mari-Anna were shocked to see me with Erik. Aish grinned at me, "nice to see you two here aswell."

I Noticed the both of them holding hands and smiled at Mari who was blushing and looking down at her feet.

Erik spoke up, "Well since you two are here why don't we all hangout together?"

I smiled at Erik and nodded, "It will be fun."

Mari nodded in agreement and smiled at me, "Sure."

Aish didn't disagree so it was decided.

'A day at the mall, with my two best friends and the boy I never thought would hangout with me, could my day get any better?' I thought as we stared walking around the mall.
