toms pov

"tom, your grades are phenomenal, so i don't see any reason we shouldn't let you go to america for two months," my mum says, with a warm smile.

i knew that if i got my grades up they wouldn't be able to say no to the foreign exchange program. i got them a pamphlet, and showed them my grades, while also talking about the wonders of (where ever you live y/l). i knew they'd fall for it, and i knew that i would have the best time.

a few week later i got a text message about where i'd be staying, with a family called the y/l/n-s. the pictures depicting them as kind people with three children. the oldest was a girl, her name listed as y/n, who looked to be my age. another, a small boy with the name y/b/n. and an even smaller girl, named y/s/n.

i couldn't help but gawk at y/n's beauty. her hair was a pretty colour. and her eyes completely complemented her hair.

flash to when tom leaves yadayadaya

i hug my brothers and parents goodbye, as i board the plane. i find my seat, and get ready for the long flight to y/l. as the plans lifted from the london ground, i slowly fell asleep, wondering what the family would look like, and act like.

the plane landed safely and i quickly left it, grabbing my bags and looking for the family. i know i've found them when i see a big sign with the mother and y/n  behind it. the sign had a ton of european things, with a plane going to the usa and then the words "welcome thomas to america!"

i walk up to them, and almost immediately freeze up. y/n looks even better in real life than she did in picture.  "hi! you must be tom! this is my daughter y/n and i am y/m/n. welcome to y/l!" the mother from the picture talks fast and with purpose. which is the way, i find out very soon, is how she walks. i doddle behind with y/n. "it must be very nerve wracking to fly to another country alone." y/n says, turning her head up to mine. something the picture didn't capture was her height. or lack of. she is short. like shorter than me. at my shoulder actually. "it was, i mean i don't like flying very much but it's okay," i reply trying to act nonchalant. "tom, can i have your phone number, i mean since you are going to be living with my family and going to my school?" she says, rambling a bit. "yea! of course!" i pull out my phone, and put the number in hers. y/n doing the same.

we get to the house after a half hour drive, where y/n and i just talk. i know her friend group that i will also be joining apparently. i also know that she prefers tea over coffee. and that her favourite classes where english and social studies. also that when she talked about something she loved her eyes light up.

when we walk in the front door, i am greeted by the rest of the family. the two smaller children are kind of annoying. but that doesn't really affect me. i am sharing a room with y/n.

over the few months i stay, i meet so many people. y/n takes me wherever she goes, and i love it. just being about to trail behind her.

i share a room with her, which is fun. when it gets to late to talk, we text until the morning.

school isn't my favourite part about the trip, but i do like meeting other kids.

but the best part of the whole trip, when i was playing truth or dare with her,and i guess my, friends. it's all goofy until y/n dares me to kiss her.  with the others giggling, i take her into the closet we have shared. i close the door, and gently push her against it. our lips meet and it feels like magic. sparks fly, and i don't know how i'll go home. we did way more than a kiss in our closet.  and a week after that y/n got sick. she stayed home from school, and y/m/n let me also since she had to work. i has been living there for two months, passing y/n's 17th birthday. we where the same age, like i predicted long ago. anyway back to the sick day. she puked her guys out, and i rubbed circles into her back. after she finished puking she said she needed something from the store, so i set off, with the ten dollars she gave me.
i grabbed what she needed adrenaline pumping through my veins. the clerk at the checkout just gave me a disapproving glance as i checked out, running out of the store so i could get back to the the house.

she takes the box for pregnancy tests into the bathroom, and uses them. my heart is beating so fast that i can hardly breathe. she walks out of the bathroom ten minutes later, tears streaming down her cheeks. "what wrong? is it positive?" i say, embracing her, and gently taking the test out of her hand to examine it. it said positive.

the room went dark. i has to fly back to kingston in three weeks. i wouldn't be able to help the love of my life through pregnancy, or labour.
"we have to call my parents." i say, grabbing my laptop. whenever i call my family y/n is by my side.  they know who she is, not how i feel about her though.

"hi tom! hi y/n! how are you?" my mum says into the computer. "mum can you get dad? not harry sam or paddy though, just you and dad?" i ramble and grab y/n's hand and keep it clutched in my hands.
"what is it, tom? you seem worried," my parents look through the computer nervously. "mum, i got y/n pregnant," i say smiling over y/n, i'm excited, but i don't know how i can be there. "you did what??" my dad was freaking out, and my mum was crying. "tom you are coming back to england in three weeks!" my dad looked furious and y/n started to cry again. she walked out of frame and into the kitchen to get water.

i had been on the phone for three hours when y/m/n walked in. y/n froze, lifting her head from my shoulder. "are you two okay?" her mum asks. "mom, maybe you should talk to tom's parents," y/n says, and grabs my hand to walk out of the room and into our room. we talked about baby things. and how i'll be there. i had a solution in mind and so did my parents.  all we needed was y/m/n's yes.

"you two are pregnant??!!" y/m/n stormed into the room. "y/n we have a solution to the problem, but first you need to tell me, do you want to keep this baby? i mean you're so young!"
"i am keeping this baby. tom and i are going to find a way to make this work. you can't change that," there is a commanding tone in her voice.
"you are moving to england. when tom flies back, you are going with him. pack your bags,"
y/m/n didn't seem excited at all. she just seemed mad.

over the next three weeks i helped y/n pack everything up in her life. we had barely finished when the time to fly came.

"i will send stuff over y/n don't worry." her mother said, at the airport.

we boarded the plane, but it more felt like we boarded our new life. together.
