Four years earlier"What's her name?"
"Persephone, Sephy,"
"Sephy can you hear me? Sephy? Miss how long ago did this happen?" I stared into the eyes of the trainee paramedic beside him,
"I Erm I don't know! Help her!" Time had stopped, nothing was happening around me except the working paramedics. The roads had been closed off and I just sat on the cold stone floor staring, broken.Evangeline
Pulling up my red dress I slipped into my nude heels and pulled the pins from my hair. A little make up and I was ready.
Scooping my purse from the cupboard I made my way anxiously into the living room.
"Holy shit," I blushed looking at Gray like I was looking at him for the first time again. He walked towards me in his suit, "you look absolutely beautiful," he placed his hands on my hips and kissed me softly.
"You want to see you," I smirked,
"Are you ready for our first date?"
"Feels strange doesn't it? All we've been through and we haven't even been on one date," he smiled and kissed me head.
"Then let's make it good."Grayson
She was doing amazing, we'd made it to the restaurant on Malibu Beach and we'd eaten. I couldn't have been more proud.
"Fancy walking down the boardwalk?" She smiled and nodded.
Hand in hand we walked under the moon and the twinkling stars of the boardwalk. I couldn't imagine a more perfect evening, slowly she came to a stop, turning and staring out into the ocean. The calm waves lapping the shore, tranquility.
"Evangeline?" She span slowly to face me, now on the ground,
"What are you doing?" She whispered,
"My amazing, sexy, strong Evangeline. I've wanted nothing more in my entire life than you the very first time I saw you, then I got lucky. I had you and our boys, our boys that will always be our babies. Every single pain you feel I feel it with you, I'm drawn to you. I don't ever want to miss another second of your life, will you marry me?" Reaching into my pocket I pulled out the ring.Four years earlier
"Miss," I placed my hand on her shoulder, I'd watched it unfold in front of me.
"I'm not moving," she whispered, the most beautiful woman I had ever seen. Half way to the hospital she'd slipped onto the gurney with what I can only presume was her sister. Her sister who's heart had stopped and who's heart we couldn't restart. So I wheeled them out together. My first day and I'd seen the most beautiful woman in the world and lost my first ever patient."When did you get this?" I laughed, still trying to balance on one knee and hold a ring box! A crowd had gathered behind me,
"I've had it since you left. I told you I'm never leaving you again," she looked deep into my eyes and panic rose inside me, she was going to say no,
"Have you carried it around since then?" I nodded trying to remain calm. "Yes," she whispered ever so softly and it was like music to my ears.
"Yes?" I laughed,
"Yes!" She squealed, "I'll marry you!" As fast as I could I stood up and placed the diamond ring on her tiny finger and it was the perfect fit. Pulling her into my arms she lifted her feet off the floor. "Do you hear that boys? Mummy and daddy are getting married!" Evangeline whispered into the air. The crowd behind me erupted in applause.
"I love you more and more every time I look at you,"
"I love you, Grayson. I suppose I've been called Mrs Angel before," she smiled sadly,
"They wouldn't let me come with you unless I was immediate family," I held her in my arms as tight as possible. Two months earlier
"She's crashing! I've no pulse," the paramedics screamed as we raced down the corridor, Evangeline laying lifeless on the stretcher, a paramedic on top of her performing CPR and me, running alongside.
"Mr Angel!" Nurse Amy. "Mr Angel, what's happened?" She grabbed me as they pushed Evangeline through the swinging double doors.
"She's taken an overdose Amy, she's dying!" I howled.
"You should have rang me if things were that bad, but never mind that now. They're good at their jobs, I'm sure they're doing their best," I snapped my head to look at her,
"Their best isn't good enough!" I yelled, "I've lost my boys I can't lose my Evangeline," she gestured for me to follow as she followed Evangeline.
"Okay guys, this is Evangeline Angel, she's 21 years old. Recently, I mean this month, she's lost her baby twins at 28 weeks. This is her husband Grayson Angel, Grayson did she take the sleeping pills?" I handed her the bottle I'd slipped from her limp hand.
"We need to get a psych eval when her heart starts going again, 50mls now!" Another doctor called to a nurse at this side who jammed the needle into a drip bag.
"She doesn't need Psych, she needs time. We need to get her back and she needs love. Remember guys this is a post natal mother not your average woman."
"Help her Amy,"
"They've got this."
