Evangeline

My fingers twitch and it roused me from what I could only call a death like sleep. But the pressure on my legs is the thing that frightened me, the one thing that insisted I opened my eyes. Was I paralysed? Where the hell was i? What the fuck had happened? Glancing downwards my neck wouldn't bend the way I wanted it to, there it was.
"He...l..p," I croaked, my throat sore and my body aching from head to toe.
"Evangeline!" My eyes widening.
"Oh my goodness Evangeline, I'm so glad you're awake my darling, so so glad." Tears streamed down his face, "do you want some water?" I nodded allowing him to put the straw to my lips.
"Where's Sephy?" The voice coming out of my mouth didn't sound like my own, it was hoarse and raspy. It scared me.
"Honey, Persephone died a long time ago,"
"No," I cried almost silently as I felt the wet warm tears on my cheeks, it was all just a terrible dream. The worst dream. "Where's Gray? Where are my boys?" The man had sat up from laying on my legs and stared at me his mouth hanging, "Max? Where are they?"

Max

The legs of the chair underneath me scraped across the floor as I moved to sit on Evangelines bed, scooping her hand into mine, careful of the drip line.
"Eve, who's that?" I pointed to my son at the end of the bed, his ears filled with fear and confusion as she shook her head.
"I Erm I don't know," she croaked. My heart sank as I watched my boys heart break over and over. "Sephy said gray saved me, she said I was shot," confusion overtook my whole body and grief slid in.
"Eve, what are your boys names?"
"Ah Mrs Angel you're awake!" A young doctor entered the room grinning at Eve, "gentlemen if I can ask you to leave for a moment so I can run a few tests,"
"She has very limited memory," I stammered, Gray still staring at his wife's face, his mouth still wide. The doctor just nodded, a sympathetic smile.
"It's to be expected but I'll run a few tests to see if there's anything we can do, it'll only take a few moments but if I can ask..."
"I'm not leaving."
"Grayson," I fired a warning shot but inside I was glad he wasn't leaving. Wasn't scared away by the few minutes previous.
"Sir please,"
"No I'm sorry but I'm not leaving my wife," Eve just turned to look at me, terrified and confused.

I walked out leaving the three of them inside. Gray agonising over her lack of memory of him.
"Suzie?" I whispered as she finally answered on the third ring,
"Hey baby, how's it going?"
"She doesn't remember him Suz," and I finally broke.

Gray

Three hours. That's how long id been sat in this same hell hole, the doctor had ordered the physio to come in and assess my beautiful wife and reassured me temporary amnesia was not only likely but extremely common. It could take weeks or months for her to remember me.
"Evangeline?" I whispered, neither of us had spoken since he left, over two hours ago, she'd slept, I'd sat.
"Yes?" She didn't turn to face me,
"Do you not remember me at all?"
"I do, I remember how much I love you and how amazing you are but your face just doesn't seem familiar," I moved to the opposite side of her bed, kneeling down in front of her. Slowly I took her hands and placed them on either side of my face,
"I love you and I'm sorry, I'm so so sorry I didn't get to you in time but I swear I'll never leave you." Tears poured down my face,
"Mama!" My head snapped towards the door where in walked my mother, her face a perfect melancholy of fury and love, her arms filled with my boys. My big boys.
"Seth, Ezra, Hunter." I turned back to Evangeline briefly who's hands immediately reached out for my sons. Taking Seth from my mother I handed him over and scooped Ezra from the stroller into my arms, inhaling the sweet scent of my boy, my beautiful, beautiful boy. My little Hunter fast asleep in the other seat.
"I've missed you," I whispered into his dark hair and he wriggled in my arms,
"We need to talk Grayson," my mother shot me a look that I couldn't read. Maybe she was going to kill me, it was a very real possibility.
"I can't leave Evangeline,"
"Your fathers here, he'll sit in whilst we nip for some coffee,"
"No." I stated bluntly.
"Not a choice Gray,"
