"Following the target. Meet up at the park." she talked in her watch.

"Understood." he responded, flying through the empty street.

Slowing down a bit, he sighed with closed eyes and took out a small tube of clear liquid from his front pocket. Is this right? he thought, reopening his eyes and twirling the tube in a circle. The liquid reflected the light of the moon in each swish. The boy reminded himself that it's only to save his partner's parents from his boss.

About a month since he first met her, he felt terrible upon hearing her parents held captive, not to mention his partner talking in her sleep and soft crying from the other side of the room. He would lay in his bed, listening to her crying behind the metal wall, until she screams from a nightmare.

He remembered what happened the first time it was used on someone.

[Flashback]

They were walking down a corridor with a few rooms from left to right. Their boss invited them to see a special surprise of a new substance he created. At first, he thought it was another prank for laughs, like with the fake spiders and the tub of hot glue, but the way his boss said about it made him rethink his decision of a prank. Not knowing what the invention would to do if someone comes into contact, he hopes it will help the both of them.

"So, what's this about?" she questioned him.

He shrugged. "Beats me. May be another prank?"

She raised her hands in disgust. "Ugh! I hate it when he pranks us! He's such a cruel man!"

"How is he a cruel man? He helped us get away from an over-sized blue dragon trying to barbecue us! We owe a dept to him!" the boy rejected.

"Yeah, right!" she shouted back in anger, "I remembered the one time he slammed a vanilla cream pie full of wasps in my face! Not to mention the laughing spray and explosive balloons!" Putting on a hated look, her hands shot upwards. "What next! A flying robotic animal trying to kill us?! He can't be trusted!"

Just about to say something back at her, the intercom buzzed on. "Get a move on, you two! I don't have to wait because of your bickering!" a happily voice spoke, then the intercom buzzes off.

"Jeez..." the girl said to herself.

"You're over-reacting, partner. The way he spoke to the both of us sounded like he wasn't joking. He may have invented a machine that actually works in his plans." He re-assured her calmly.

That got her into thinking. She sighed, holding on to her other arm. "What if it's something that captures ghosts and tortures them?"

The boy scoffed. "Better not be, otherwise we quit and get your parents out."

She lowered her head, looking away in worry from what's up ahead. "Hmm..."

He looked at her, putting his hand on her shoulder. "Don't you worry. Nothing bad will happen to them. We'll free your parents once the ghost boy's captured."

A small smile crossed her lips. "Hope so..."

{End of Flashback]

What happens when we meet him? ...I know he'll try to fight us, but could he handle the side effects of this for about a week? What the Boss said, the boy will lead us into a world of pain when he takes it, along with anyone near him. I can't let my my partner fight near him under the subsidence. The test subject did well in the first try, but about a week after, the side effects got a hold of him. Poor boy.

He shuttered from his thoughts. If all goes to plan, his partner will have her parents back and he'll go back to being himself again. This was on the line for the both of them. Feeling confident, he picked up his speed, slipping the tube back in his pocket. Continuing on, he spotted a wisp of a black tail rounding the corner of a shop.

"I got visual of the ghost." he quickly said after turning on his watch.

"I'm on it! Be there in a jiff!" The girl spoke bravely.

"No, I got this. Plus, your far from where I am." he said, serious.

"Dang it! Could we do it together, then?" she wined.

He sighed. "Fine, but be careful, okay?"

"Yes!" she shouted in excitement.

The boy chuckled, ending the call on his watch.

Momentarily, Danny flew through the air, hurrying along the stripe of road. His snow-white hair flopped in the wind's current and the ghost tail trailed behind him. He smiled at the sight of the empty scenery. Nothing but silence, except the air surrounding him. Never thought that he get to be early this time before his parents find out.

Turning the corner, the air around him now felt tense than calm. Suggesting it's nothing, he continued following his route back to his house. The cool current satisfied him to the touch. 2 minutes of flying, his smile dropped to a frown and he stopped in mid-air.

"Something ain't right here." He told himself, shifting his glowing, green eyes right to left. He can't help but to notice, like he's being followed. He shook it off plenty of times during the mid-night flight, but he couldn't shake it off now. He raised an eyebrow, then shook his head. Might be my imagination playing tricks, he thought.

Unexpected, a blast of light-blue beam shot pass him, hitting a brick wall in impact. Surprised, Danny turned around to be hit by another in the chest. Danny yelled from the blow, slamming backwards into the same brick wall, leaving a crater around him. Lifting his hand up to his head, he can make out a boy with brown hair and wearing nothing but black clothing.

"Don't move or I'll shoot!" The boy commanded.

"Really?" Danny said, nonchalantly, then shot an ecto-ray at the boy.

The boy dodged and aimed, getting ready to fire another beam. "Not bad. Got more tricks up your sleeve?" He fired his gun.

Danny dodged the stream of light, then headed towards the boy in full speed with glowing, green fists. "More than you know, buddy."

The boy quickly dodged him again and instantly grabs Danny by the leg, then swings him around and around in a circle till letting him go in the air. Danny was astounded of this new enemy. The boy fired his gun twice while wearing a smirk. He doesn't intimidate the ghost one bit. An idea was brought up.

"Catch me if you can, sucker!" Danny yelled while flying away.

The boy growled through his teeth and followed him from behind. Dodging his shots, Danny turned the corner, floating up to the clock tower that read 9:58. His eyes shot wide open and quickly flew faster than he ever did. "Oh no, I'm going to be late!" He never knew that he can fly fast than his previous flights. It surprised him very much.

Not knowing that the girl flew next to her partner, the halfa was struck in the back by a massive fire, suddenly falling towards the pavement. Danny skid across the rough surfaced road, flipping backwards a couple of times before ceasing to motion anymore movement. Ringing filled his ears. Lifting his head up, his world blurred hazily, enabled to see what's about to happen next.

He gagged vigorously from the lack of air in his lungs. His arm slightly moved away from his face, but pain shot up to it, causing it to cringe back into place. Measly struggling to continue on, two white rings appeared around his torso, splitting apart from each other and replacing his ghost form to human form.

In the air, the two looked at the poor figure down below them, enlightened that they injured him. They got him cornered. No where to run or hide. Both the girl and boy immediately float down next to the fallen ghost boy. The girl smirked and the other grinned at what they accomplished.

"Wanna do the honors, partner?" The girl asked him, holding a metal rod.

"It'll be my pleasure." he replied.

She handed him over the metal rod. He aimed at the halfa's head. "You're ours, Danny Phantom!"
