Black, at first thought, a seemingly hollow color that he found himself in, floating around in its bond. Though not understanding why, his mind was clearly blank as to what happened after the fight. He did remember the immense shock from the net, ringing in his head after falling unconscious. He was then left in a wandering, black void of his mind. Although, he did remember being handled carelessly. Uncalled for, but true.
He was pinned to something, however, predicting what it was wouldn't help. Moving one of his arms and legs as best he could, the ghost struggled to move out of whatever held him in. He imagine himself lying on something flat and rigid against his back, a cold sensation shivering up his spine. His head was hurting a little bit, but not much to physically flick pain, just fuzzy with small, black dots.
Dim, icy-blue eyes lifted themselves up dazedly. A pulse of small yellow light shot through his vision, closing his eyes quickly and bringing them back up slowly. Maybe a headache will come later, never know. Thankfully, he didn't lose much of his vision thanks to a black cloth wrapped around his eyes.
He tried moving his arm again, this time, it responded with a twitch of a finger. He raised an eyebrow. Surely he's not numb, otherwise he wouldn't have moved his limbs a second ago. Something was going on with him, he just couldn't figure it out.
He dwindled what happened to him, being unconscious and all. Being hit by electricity while wrapped in a metal net? Yep, one way to solve the problem for becoming numb. He mentally scoffed. He was smart if he got the situation planned out, but this time, he was clueless. Thinking of an escape, a pair of metal shifted across the room, followed by footsteps that triggered off a ghost sense.
"Ah, I see you're awake now, ghost boy. Have any trouble while under unconsciousness?"
The tone was modernly low and stern, not like anyone he heard. Kinda like a mix of Vlad's integrity with Skulker's cockiness attitude. Not much of a difference in mind.
"Depends. What's it to ya?"
"My, you're a cocky spirit?" The figure cocked an eyebrow in amusement. "Absolutely splendid, though you are a mischievous perspective, entirely, most of you just shout in anger to be let loose and tear a place down to pieces."
Both an insult and compliment? Talk about a formal malevolence like Vlad. The boy was quickly getting impatient. Who this was, he needed to know.
Danny rolled his eyes in annoyance. "Jeez... Just what are you planning to do with me?"
The spirit chuckled. "Oh, just wanting to know for study on how to manipulate your mind."
"Manipulate? Ha! You can't change me even if you tried!" He chuckled sarcastically through a smirk.
"You're quite a catch for being infamous since the incident. For being a Halfa, I'm surprised you're rare than the others rather than the two alternate ghosts I've yet to capture. One of them, of course, is the same by your DNA, so she won't do."
His impatience stopped in grimace. "Alternate ghosts?" Hope he wasn't talking about who they are. Too late...
"Yes! Of course, you do! You've known them by memory, you conspicuous spirit!" the voice shouted.
Danny's hands lift up in defense. "It was a rhetorical question. Don't get built up about it..."
"How charming, runt. Guess that attitude of yours changes quickly in certain points. As a discriminate accusation, I'm simply doing my job to collect what you remember. Friends, family, or acquaintances would do the trick. Overall, you, my friend, are an incoherent little twit of a mongrel who contemplates the curiosity as your own personal play. Disgraceful!"
He blinked. "Wow, for a second, I thought you were a mellow person? Now, who's acting conspicuous?!" The Halfa laughed mockingly.
Though Danny cackled, what he didn't know was that the ghost speaking to him smirked as the dosage was beginning to take effect on his mind. A wonderful concoction he created. He smirked joyfully, even if he confessed the truth about the boy. The truth was accountable, nevertheless unsettling, but the teen wouldn't care for insults.
After about a minute of laughing, Danny caught his breath, heaving bits of air into him. "Phew! Man, you gave me quite a laugh! You're even more crazier than that fruitloop!"
"I wouldn't be so sure."
"What's that suppose to mean?"
The figure grinned. "In due time, lad. For now, I have somewhere to be. I'll let one of my assistants take over you until we head out."
With that, thumps of feet escalated away and sliding of doors opening and closing, leaving the questionable teen lying against metal. He heard the ghost mumble about something to someone, but couldn't hear what he said. Another pair of footsteps conjured, this time they didn't make thumps, just claps against the floor.
The voice chuckled. "Well, look what we have here? We meet again, ghost boy. Thought you were going to die on me when we fought earlier?"
He frowned. "Please, I have much more time on my hands than to die to the likes of you." He liked the first person better than this so-called hot-shot idiot.
Drake sighed, taking out a needle halfway full of a sedative. "Anyway, I'm going to make this quick. I wouldn't want to make Adriana and the Boss wait to capture someone."
"Adriana? Wait, what are you doing?" Curiosity was written on Danny's face as he struggled to slip through the binds. No use again, he still felt numb like before.
"Just sleep for now, Danny. You'll feel better once we get back from the realm. I believe our guest will surprise you the most, or should I say, "he"?"
Danny winced when a sharp, metal rod was injected into his arm. Slowly, the serum seeped into his arm, making him unable to struggle no more. How easy was it to be under the influence of sedatives? Drake triumphantly grinned as he pulled it out, observing the ghost that laid his head on the metal extracting table.
"Shouldn't take long before the serum takes effect."
Feeling the room turning hazily, the spirit murmured high enough for him to hear. "Serum? What serum?"
What was Drake talking about? Even with his sight slipping away, he can make out a blur figure standing next to him. What can he do now? How was he in this in the first place? Once he wakes up, he was surely bound to get the answers. Too tired to process, he relaxed into the hold of darkness of his mind once again.
"Sweet dreams." was the last he heard before dozing off into dreamland.
I can't believe it! The serum worked for once! Better than the first test subject! Who knew manipulating minds could be this easy? Especially on intelligent spirits like him?! Soon Danny, you will be ours under the Boss's control.
Spending about 5 seconds of inspection, Drake walked out through the sliding doors, through a corridor that led to his boss, who was waiting outside the portal entrance with both hands behind his back. Concern took over him. Standing straight, his outlook on the next mission was calculated to be a success.
"Are you ready, Drake?" His boss asked, a trace of intimidation and thrill in his voice.
Drake nodded, but asked, "Wait, what about Adriana, sir? Shouldn't we wait on her to join us?"
The boss sighed, turning away from Drake. "She won't be with us. Her mind is set on another obstacle. Give her time to expand."
He nodded, jumping into the portal. The boss waited about 10 seconds before heading in the green vortex, ignoring the guilt that lingered in him with an unidentified expression placed on him. She will be fine.
