How was I going to find 2old's group? I need to find them before I encounter Mebi. So, I'm going back to the valley and hope I get lucky. For all she knows, I could be just training. Or perhaps I am simply getting some alone time after seeing somebody truly killed. If I meet her I suppose I could say either. They are both equally viable; I am new here, after all. Mebi has no reason to suspect the very thing from me that got Adam executed. If anything, she would suspect it even less. Everyone now knows what she does to those who are not completely loyal to her.
I once again found myself at the ramp to the valley after about an hour of trekking through the repetitive pine forest. Lost in thought, instead of going down the ramp, I went along the hills that surrounded the valley. They were extremely steep coming out of the valley, but they had oddly flat tops which allowed me to easily walk across them. I went to the right.
I kept my eyes on the people fighting endlessly below. I could faintly hear yelling and slashing, but I wasn't interested in the fighting. Not right now at least. I looked up and saw the tiny spec of a person on the very top of the giant yellow crane behind the two story apartment building. Strangely enough, the apartments building had a construction vehicle parked in front of it with a long neck that reached the roof of the building.
Movement caught my attention. A tiny knife was falling from the large yellow crane that was extended parallel to me. The person on top was throwing knives down onto the people far below. I sat down on the ledge of the steep hill and watched as people on the ground struggled to throw their knives high enough to reach the man on top. This struggle to take down the highest person. It reminds me of how powerful Mebi truly is. Not from Rain's sword, but just from skill. I witnessed her defend against countless knife and the one time I've seen her killed was in a tie. Does anyone stand a chance against her? Someone has to. Someone has to. If there isn't, how could we possibly stop her from killing who knows how many more people?
It has to be me. From my perch on top of the valley walls I vow to be the one who defeats Mebi. Not in a tie, like Shar's valiant effort, but to defeat her once and for all... With her own sword if necessary.
I continued to watch the struggling over the crane for a few minutes. A single person climbed their way too the top. I could barely see the sunlight reflecting off of the swords as the two dueled. The who climbed up won. For some odd reason, I was filled with determination. I could beat Mebi. I just had to work hard enough, just like that person who climbed the ladder. I stood up and judged the distance. The person at the top of the crane was flaunting their victory. They weren't moving much at all. I unsheathed my Magma Sword and rose it above my head in preparation to throw. I released my sword into the air, whistling as it went. After a second of air time, I could no longer hear the whoosh of it spinning through the air. After 3 seconds the outcome of my throw became clear. It missed by a landslide. My throw didn't even reach the crane. I frowned at my failure. If I wanted to defeat Mebi, I need to train. Train even harder than before.
I slid down the side of the hill, almost falling. Before me lay the brown tunnel I thought led to nowhere. I went inside the hollow tube to the other side. Once again, there were people dueling to my right in the center of the roadblock circle. Might as well start now. I didn't care for the duel, I want to improve. Doesn't matter how. I quickly lifted my arm and threw my magma sword over a roadblock. It hit one of the two in the side, he fell over instantly. The second person turned to me with a surprised look, “Hey! Wha-” he stopped speaking when my second throw left a blade sticking through his throat.
I had just spent a second invisible when I noticed a third person who was wearing too large of a jacket hiding around the corner of the shop. I rushed over, my magma sword held dagger style in my right hand. I was there within another second. I just rounded the corner when I was met with another knife. A blade that looked much too like my own. It was another Magma Sword. We clashed twice before I was once again normal. I always felt sluggish after I returned. The person through their knife even when we were at such close range. I saw it coming and easily deflected it to the side into the pink truth to my left. The shop was now on my right. The roadblocks we just a bit further beyond my enemy.
I rushed in, unafraid, and swung. Sparks flew as our blades once again grinded against one another. We seemed to be perfectly matched aside from the little advantage I see behind my enemy. A girl with long curly hair turned the corner of the shop, oblivious to our battle. I didn't need to judge the distance, it was a straight shot. I jumped back from melee range of my opponent. His long black hair filled the space where he was when he dodged my knife that collided into the chest of the innocent girl. I was in ghost again. The burst of speed I gained allowed me to easily skip past my enemy's defense and slide my sword across his abdomen, allowing slippery innards to gush onto the ground.
I didn't look at the vibrant mess on the ground for long. Another knife passed just inches from my ankle. I turned around, a girl with brown hair down to her shoulders had just thrown another knife… at the ground. It slid and bounced haphazardly faster than anyone could have thrown it. By sheer luck, I jumped and it skipped harmlessly underneath me. If I'm not careful, I could easily lose a leg. And then I'd be done for. I watched her arm to judge how the knife was going to move. She was quite a distance away, I need to close the distance. She was past a roadblock and another pink truck, in front of some nice looking houses.
I dodged to my left and threw a knife in return. She dodged to the left. Now I had to dodge to the right. Again, I threw a knife. this back and forth continued for a few seconds until I finally landed a knife. She released her last knife as she fell, it flew not onto the floor, but onto the side of the the pink truck she was partially using for cover. Her knife bounced. All the previous knives I have seen stuck to where they landed. But her knife bounced off of any surface. Interesting. I need to remember that for future reference should I encounter it again.
Once more I had no time to gather my bearings. Another knife came from behind me, from the roadblock circle. And then it came back again from the left. Boomerang. I saw far down the road a girl with wings and an oversized hoodie. She wore the same black tights. It was the girl I defeated before while fighting 2old's group.
I tried calling out to her, but she was relentless. She threw knife after knife, it was becoming difficult to follow where each one went and where they would return. I hid behind the pink truck near the shop. If boomerang knives worked how I think they do, I should be relatively safe.
“Hey! Wait! I need to talk to you!” Her knifes stopped. “Look! I don't want to side with Mebi anymore! I can't stand to see her kill people. I uh. I'm sorry for killing you before.” I smirked to myself at my sarcasm. “That was very uncool of me.”
I stepped out from behind the truck to see the girl with cat ears crossing her arms with an unhappy look on her face. “You could've at least let me kill you before you asked for an alliance.” Her face then lit up considerably, “Let me take you to 2old. He's the one you want to explain your reasons to. He can see right through a lie.”
She sure changed her mood quickly. But I'm not complaining. The sooner I can get to 2old, the better. I need to tell him about Mebi; including where she found Rain’s weapon.
I asked her, “What's your name by the way?” She replied in a light voice, “Aissa. Yours?”
“Buttermanz”
“Pfft. Buttermanz? What kind of name is that?”
“The name I was given apparently. I never really thought much about it.”
Aissa led me to the top of the ramp, but instead of continuing on the dirt path, she led to to the right along the ledges of the hills, opposite of where I went just earlier. As we went, I needed to think of what I was going to say to 2old to convince him of my disloyalty to Mebi.
