"2old... What is that thing?" The frightened voice of Gymsie whispered.
2old was in awe of the demonic being before him. After a moment of hesitation, he
murmured, "I have no clue." He turned to me, keeping the giant in his peripheral vision. "Buttermanz.. You said that the last one carried a sword that could permanently kill anyone, right?"
"Y-yes, but she was nothing like this." 2old turned back, the dim candle light reflecting off of his sunglasses. He made an audible gulp and spoke to me quietly.
"....I have a feeling that we aren't all going to get out of here alive. If we don't-" A thump echoed throughout the room. Skalathrax has taken a step towards us, the ground vibrated with the impact. 2old continued, "If everyone doesn't come out safe, I want you to know that it isn't your fault. I chose to bring them here. If anyone is going to be put at fault, it will be me."
"Are you sure?" Thump. "I'm the one who let you kno-"
"I know you did, and I don't care. I was probably going to come back here again one day, anyway. If not for you," Thump. " I wouldn't have known what to expect."
I took a deep sigh. If that's what he wants, then fine, I won't argue.
Thump.
The ground quaked again, the candle lights on the walls flickered with every step. Light danced up the towering walls, creating a cascade of moving shadows across the room. Pounce fearlessly stepped between 2old and I, his arm length sword gripped loosely in his hand. It was a dark green that looked black in the lighting, the shape was the same as the pitch black Darkheart that I have seen many times before.
2old inhaled and turned his head from the beast, to address the few members still recovering their courage, the sluggish movements of the giant made him slightly less terrifying. Slightly.
"Avoid being hit at any cost. We have no clue how he fights, you need to stay on your toes. Yes, he looks scary, but this is a fight I know we can win."
Wonder didn't seem too worried herself, she was trying to calm Gymsie down. Sea was trying to help her, but didn't really know how. Gymsie was breathing heavily but slowly regaining her composure, but not quite quick enough. The man with the long brown hair that I had seen at the end of the tunnel wore a carefree smirk as he looked up at the giant with something akin to admiration, or maybe... pride?
Thump. I snapped my attention back to Skalathrax, whose most recent lumbering step has brought it dangerously close. The closer he got, the more the distance deceived my eyes and he become larger and larger. I was about average height and yet i didn't even make it up to his kneecap.
Skalathrax slowly rose his sword arm, I could feel the heat and energy in the air radiating from him and his legendary weapon.
"Now!" 2old ran to the right, I immediately knew his plan.
"Split up! Go!" I shouted as a ran to the left, A few surprised shouts as the blade came down a loud whoosh followed by the quaking of the ground and a heat wave that nearly made me trip, A few who were a bit slower did. Pounce instead ran between his legs and avoided the heat wave entirely. Smart. Flames leaped from the blade that had stuck halfway into the glossy black flooring. Now's my chance. I Stopped sprinting when i was at his 7 o'clock, I judged the distance and trajectory and threw my magma blade. I aimed for the slits in his armor, the joint and holes that were necessary for movement. But i was a second too late and it clicked harmlessly off of the thick metal. He began lifting his blade once more, twisting to his right, towards me and sending a backhand swing my way.
