"Alright, Mebi, we're all ready." the sound of Ebi's calm voice disturbed my plotting. His black hair was a dark gray in the white light of the room that seemed to have no specific source. If the light was white, my red eyes must look pink. Blegh.

I didn't let my disgust at the color show through as I rose from my seated position before the open door that seemed to be leaking fog.

"About time." I glanced over the group, Tt, Randy, Dragonebone, Elon, Lin, a good number of random recruits we have found along the way, and finally, Ebi. They all stared at me in silence with mild discomfort. Perfect. I flipped my dark hair back over my shoulder as I turned around, walking calmly into the darkness of the fog. After a moment, i heard the hesitant footsteps of the others follow me. I re-equipped my precious scissors, my weapon coated in its own fog. A fog of darkness. Even in the shadows of this corridor, the fog surrounding them was yet darker, a depth of darkness that can hardly be perceived by the human eye. The walkway seemed illuminated in comparison. I must prepare myself for the fight ahead, I was caught off guard by the fight with Rain, she was much more skilled than I was expecting. And though I won't admit it out loud, I believe I only won because of a fluke. If Frost is anything like Rain, I should be more careful. I can't allow myself to use my ability to the point of exhaustion again. Rain gave me a bit of time as she spoke that let me catch my breath.

Frost might not be as stupid.

I couldn't decipher who, but someone behind me whispered under their breath, "Geez, how long is this hallway?"

"I dunno, but I don't think we have much of a choice other than to just keep walking."

After a heavy sigh, we were in silence once more, apart from the soft pitter patter of shoes on a thin layer of fluffy snow. And so we walked. I ran my hand along the cold wall of the hallway, feeling the tiny bumps of ice under my fingertips as I walked. I thought about what I could possibly expect from Frost. Rain was fast and agile. Extremely fast an agile. She moved out of the way of my strikes without even looking at them, as if she instinctively knew they were coming, from where, how fast, and she knew exactly how to move to avoid them. It's like from just the first few seconds of combat I had with her, she had already learned my attack patterns, my methods, and she learned how my ability worked even though it is unique to me, and she had no possible way to learn how to counter it beforehand. Was she truly just that skilled?

"Let me give you a tip, warrior. The dance with death. To dance with death means to know your enemy's moves by instinct, not by waiting to see them. To dance with death is meant to know the enemy's sword and its speed without waiting to see it. Dancing with death means being one with the enemy.. Dancing with death means being committed to killing, committed with your heart and soul. You are not committed with either. That is why you will not win this fight."

I remembered Rain's final words. The Dance with Death? Is how she moved that way what she was blabbering on about? Committed to killing with my heart and soul. Pfft. I'm already committed to killing every time I fight. I do not lose... Not unintentionally anyway.

Quiet whispers of relief flooded from the group behind me. I snapped back to reality and noticed that the hallway was marginally becoming brighter. I can see the sides of the wall now, if barely. The smooth, slippery ice had water-like ripples flowing through it. It's almost time. I could feel my heartbeat accelerate in anticipation. My body is ready to fight with every ounce of strength I have. Frost will not defeat me.
