Y/N's P.O.V.

I can't believe that we ran after the wrong guy, whom I mistook as the man I've been crushing on since I first laid my eyes on him on the very first day of classes.

Let me tell you what happened.

Me and my best friend, Dani, were walking through the covered sidewalk on our way out of school to buy ourselves snacks and to probably eat early dinner, before we attend to our 6-9 p.m. class.

Anyway, we were just being the normal sad poets, exchanging our heavy thoughts with each other, figuratively hugging each other in our coffins with our words of empathy in the embodiment of "same."

At the same time we also talk about how many times we've spotted our crushes around the campus and low-key gushing about them, because we're quite tired from hustlin' and bustlin' around the campus.

I remember seeing Patrick wearing a maroon polo shirt with, a pair of black pedal shorts, and a pair of black sandals. He looked cool and damn attractive. I've never felt so soft for someone until I've laid my eyes on Patrick. His arms, thighs, and exposed calves really had me weak, but that's not the main reason why I liked him. Appreciating his physical aesthetic comes along with being hung up on him.

Going back to me and Dani chatting with each other, my eyes suddenly caught the familiar figure of a man. His back was turned on us. He's wearing the same outfit as Patrick's and has the same body build as his and...oh my god.

He has a goddamn girlfriend, walking beside him, wearing a cute little dress that matches the color of his polo shirt.

Dani noticed my demeanor changed.

"Okay, fuck he's got a girlfriend." I quickly muttered as I watched them walk out of the school gate.

Dani knew who exactly I was talking about as she followed where my eyes were planted.

I felt my world stopped, fade to gray, and fall apart. Okay, I know it's just a crush, but of course intense attraction always comes with backfiring pain and there's no amount of denial nor coaxing myself that would drive it away.

"Oh god no." Dani said as she grabbed my hand and took off in a run, taking me with her which took me by surprise.

"What are we doing?" I yelled at her, my eyes wide as I process what was going on.

"I have to see if the girl's pretty or not." Dani answered back, panting as we ran faster to their direction. She glanced to the side for a brief moment and cackled.

"No, I don't care about the girl. Let's just leave them be." I quickly answered back, almost screaming my response as my lungs ached for rest and oxygen.

"He's behind us!" Dani exclaimed happily, grinning widely.

"Who?!" I yelled.

"Him!" She yelled back.

I did not look back, because if she's talking about Patrick, well, he and his girlfriend just took off in a cab.

We reached the outside of the school and crossed the road to walk our way to wherever we chose to eat.

We were panting as we walked at a normal pace. Dani intertwined her right arm with my left one.

"Patrick was behind us all along." Dani spoke secretively by my ear, giggling afterwards.

"He was with his girlfriend, okay? Didn't you see? They just took off in a cab." I responded sadly and quite irritably.

"Okay, just look at the other side of the road." Dani gently pleaded me to do so.

I obliged and turned my head to look at the other side of the road and I felt my heart step on a pedal hard.

It really is Patrick.

What makes it better and worse is that he's also looking our way curiously. I blinked as I caught a smile ghost over his lips.

I immediately tore my gaze away from him as I felt my heart rate increase and my face heat up.

I bit off the smile that was beginning to spread across my lips.

"Oh my god you mistook that guy as him." Dani giggled in disbelief as she palmed her face.

Dani kept looking at the side of the road where Patrick was walking and I just couldn't bring myself to do that anymore, because I didn't want to be obvious and be thought as a creep. Not that Dani is being a creep, but I feel like Patrick would know how I see him and what I feel towards him if I look back at him again.

"Shit he's looking at us." Dani gushed, tightening her grip on my arm as she squealed.

I laughed.

"You guys are making me feel so damn giddy." Dani said, referring to me crushing on Patrick.

It was my turn to palm my face in pure content, giddiness, and joy.

"God, that was such a fantasy material. I can't believe we both mistook that guy as Patrick until you saw the real Patrick just behind us."

Dani playfully slapped my arm. "You goof. That's what you get from having excessive sightings of him." She humored.
