You just got home from work. You're a call center agent and you earn enough to pay for the bills. Your boyfriend, Patrick, is in a band and you support him with all of your being, but when it comes to situations like this, it makes you panic, because you couldn't help but think if your really chose the right decision to live a life with him.

You're 19 and Patrick's 20. Both of your are college dropouts not because of bad grades or bad anything. Both of you just didn't see yourselves thriving in college like what both of your parents dreamt. Besides, both of you just felt ready to get out and make your dreams happen. Patrick is very passionate about music and he's currently off with his bandmates in a local guesting show to perform a few tracks from their album, Take This To Your Grave.

You're really passionate about cooking and food and you're saving up funds for your dream restaurant and cafe. You sell a few baked goods in your office during vacant to earn a few extra bucks.

You and Patrick decided to leave everything behind and elope just a year ago. Both of you had it all planned, at least to survive the bumpy new beginning as young lovers standing in their own feet. You and Patrick were fuelled by your dreams and love for each other and for life. Both of you felt unstoppable.

You came home to quite a number of enveloped bills. You sighed and rolled your eyes as you picked and held the stack of bills and put them on the round table for you and Patrick to look at later.

You changed into your house clothes and decided to take a nap.

Not long after you've plopped on your bed, the doorbell rang. You got up to answer the door and it was the landlord of the house that you and Patrick are currently renting.

You forced a smile at the landlord and the landlord smiled back at you.

"Good evening, Y/N. I haven't yet received your payment since last month, so I'm here to ask for that one and also the one for this month." The landlord said in a casual tone.

Your smile dropped and it felt like your stomach did drop as well. Patrick was in-charge of the house rental payment. You remember giving him the cheque to deposit into the landlord's bank account.

"Really? But we deposited our payment to your bank account last month just like always." You said.

The landlord showed you his bankbook and it was in the recent page page and it showed no updates of deposit from last month nor for this month.

You lightly frowned and couldn't help but start to worry. You hand the bankbook back to your landlord.

"Ma'am, have you checked with your bank if the cheque really went where it's supposed to be?" The landlord asked as he saw the worry in your eyes.

"Uh not yet. I mean it's my boyfriend that does the depositing and I trust him with that sort of thing, because, well, he's my boyfriend." You shrugged as your mind raced through every possible reasons why no payment was received nor deposited since last month.

The landlord chuckled to himself. "Better check it with him then. I remember seeing your boyfriend one time in a casino with a bunch of cash in his hand. Maybe you and him needs to talk."

The information caught you off-guard. Patrick doesn't gamble. He's very smart with budgeting and with anything that has to do with money. He knows best than to just to waste it all away in gambling; you thought.
