TWENTY | Appeal.

The night went on and I learned Rosaline had been telling the truth when she said many witches would come up to me to appeal to be on my council. After an hour of talking to witch after witch I had enough and currently was in the corner of the room stuffing cheese and crackers into my mouth.

"This is a surprise," a voice said causing me to squeak.

I spun on my heels and came face to face with a blonde young man, with silver eyes and tanned skin. He wore a stupid smirk on his face, and an even stupider pink and black suit. His hair was gelled back and he reminded me too much like the damn bully from a certain wizard book.

"Your suit's ugly," I replied lamely.

His brow rose, "I'll let Yuma know you don't like her pick."

My eyes narrowed, "Let her know I don't like her pick of boys either."

Thomas Moone laughed, running a hand through his hair that didn't move. I wondered if all that hair gel was seeping into his brain and killing it. Well, I assumed he didn't have many brain cells to begin with.

"As my high priestess if you truly want me to break up with her then I shall. I can't object your command, my lady," he hummed.

My eyes widened and I bit my lip. I may have that power now but did I want to start my lead by such actions? Or rather, did I want to hurt Yuma over such things? No. I wouldn't do that to my friend, I wouldn't be that person.

I sighed, "She can make her own choices. Even if I don't like them I will still stand by her side and take them on with her. Rain or shine, I have her back."

"Funny, she said the same thing about you," he sighed softly.

"She did?"

"Yeah, she's been worried about you lately. I told her it was probably nothing but that woman doesn't give up. Have you thought of telling her the truth?" he asked quietly.

My eyes widened and I stared at him.

Was he serious?

He shrugged his shoulders, and looked away almost nervously, "She has magic in her bloodline too. Not witch blood, but a different kind of magic. She'll need you one day, when it awakens. She'll need to remember she's not alone."

Anger boiled through my veins, "Is that why you're with her? Over some magic?"

His eyes widened, "No! I'm with her because I lo-like her. I'm with her because she's an amazing person. I don't care about her magic."

I opened my mouth to retort when, out of the corner of my eye I spotted Crow walking towards me. Thomas's eye's followed after my gaze then he sighed, muttering something about going to talk to Rosaline. I ignored him, and waited for Crow to reach me.

"What's up, buttercup?" I asked shoving another cracker into my mouth.

Faint disgust spun in his eyes but he didn't comment on my eating habits. Instead, the boy looked rather nervous, fidgeting from foot to foot. I swallowed the cracker in my mouth and paused before eating the next one.

"What's wrong?" I asked with a frown.

"I want to be by your side," he said softly.

"Uh, I'm flattered but I don't like you that way. Actually, there are so many reasons why I'm going to reject that idea. Thanks tho," I replied with a frown.
