THIRTY | Fangs.
Nora merely flipped her hair over her shoulder. Her eyes were trained on one of the vampires. He had blazing red eyes and flaming red hair. I watched her carefully as I hugged Balfer tightly to my chest.
"Phoenix stand down. Coming here was not my first choice however, it's the only gate I can call in such short notice," Nora huffed.
The vampire – Phoenix – grinned, "Nora it's always a delight, don't you worry."
She rolled her eyes, "Where is River and Sora? We have a problem."
Through the crowd, a vampire with dark hair shoved his way to the front. He had a mean glare and a very, pregnant woman with strange eyes on his heels. My eyes widened as she stormed over to Nora only to have her vampire man pull her back.
"Savannah," he snapped, "Stop it."
"No!" she replied, "Sora last time she came here she almost killed Phoenix! Now she's brought another one? They need to leave, they are a risk to us all. We have our hands full with Desson, no more drama."
"I mean no disrespect Miss. Savannah," Nora hummed softly, "I am just asking for some help. Just as you did when you asked me to track Desson. I will not beg."
The woman laughed bitterly, her eyes narrowed, "We refuse. Get out and go back to your realm. There's nothing we can do to help you."
"Wait a moment," Sora corrected her, "Nora's been good to us."
"Please reconsider," I whispered then spoke louder, "I don't know why Norman's acting like this b-but whatever he does might affect more realms than just ours."
"Norman?" Phoenix questioned with a frown, "Nora was Norman not your brother who died as a child? How is he alive?"
Nora sent me a glare, "You're an idiot."
"What?" I gasped not understanding the vampire's words nor Nora's anger.
"Allister has been pretending to be Norman for years now. He locked me away and has been toying with my coven for so long. I must do what is best for my coven he could destroy us all," she informed.
I felt sick. Norman was never real? Oh gosh, oh god! That meant I made out with Nora's father! I moaned, doubling over with emotional pain. Tears welted in my eyes then dripped down my face. I felt like a fool! Allister had killed my father, my uncle...now he was after my coven.
My home.
White hot anger fueled through me, magic singed the air as Balfer leaped from my arms. Around me Nora and the vampires backed up – the pregnant one Savannah being shielded by Sora. My breath was harsh as I tried to rein in my anger. There was so much anger.
"See what I mean?" The woman snapped throwing her shoe at me over Sora's shoulder, "Nothing but trouble!"
That broke the beast inside me, I snarled, "Go to hell!"
Time slowed as thick, black chains rose from the ground. My eyes widened as they coiled and snaked. Up Sora's legs over his torso then around Savannah. Magic made the world glow red then, it disappeared as did the two the chains touched. The chains of hell collected the two I had banished.
I had banished people to hell.
Exhaustion set in as my knees crumpled. Balfer growled, then shifted into the form of a wolf. My body fell onto his as he caught me. I patted his head as I realized the room had grown unsettlingly quiet.
I looked up to find all eyes on me.
"Oh my goddess," Nora whispered harshly – full of shock, "you just sent Sora and Savannah to hell. Without a gate – without words. With only intent."
I blinked at her confused, "W-What?'
"Uh, they're coming back right?" Phoenix asked, "Wait don't answer that I don't want to end up starting a war with witches. I'll assume their coming back. You both should leave, I'm sorry we couldn't repay your kindness Nora."
Nora nodded, "As am I."
Nora turned on her heels, as Balfer followed after her. We walked through the vast room as I noticed Nora's magic swirl and dance around us. She stopped at the back of the room. Her hands moving as the ground around her glowed.
"Through divine intentions,
Spinning of the wheel of fortune,
Ties of fate –
I call forth the Thyme Gate!
Allow passage, and blessed travel,
Show thee!"
Vines and flowers sprouted as the gate burst free. The doors opened as Nora nodded her head towards it. Taking a deep breath, I allowed the relief fill me. Home.
I was going back to Wolf Hall, back to my second home and I honestly couldn't be happier.
I rubbed Balfer's head and he moved, stepping through the gate I followed Nora. Bright lights filled my vision as I stepped into my own doom. Completely unaware of the magical trap Norman...Alistair had set for us.
