I sat in the chair in the room, josh soothingly rubbing my leg.

"Josh..."

"Yes?"

"She is really gone...and I'm scared..." I put my hands together on my lap and started to rub my thumb and forefinger together. I was waiting for Josh to say something but he didn't, so I continued. "In these past two months, I've lost so much. My arm, my Mother, I'm losing my sister and I don't know how I'm ever going to face going back to school. I don't even know how I can be signed out of the Hospital...I don't have a legal guardian anymore. What am I supposed to do?" I looked up to find Josh's gaze, but he was still looking down.

He finally looked up and took a deep breath. "Honestly Sky...I don't really know. Things are going to be different and harder and life is probably gonna suck for a while. I can't lie about that to you, I respect you too much. But I know that you and I are gonna be sticking together. It would be great if Hope joined us, but this turns out to be a duo group then so be it! You and I can make it through this, we've made it through everything else." I wrapped my arms tightly around Josh's torso, his slug over my shoulders and kissed the top of my head before pulling my head tighter against his chest.

We stayed like that for a while before there was a gentle knock on the door, Josh slowly let go of me and opened he door, the woman from the front desk came in holding a stack of papers. "I just have a few legal documents I need Joshua Lawrence to sign." She looked over to Josh, " I assume that's you?"

"It is."

The woman sat down at the mahogany desk that stood in the center of the room, Josh and I sat on the opposite side of the desk. For the next hour Josh signed papers and jotted down information regarding our mothers will, her burial and the legalisation of my guardian. The last papers signed were the ones that stated that Josh was my new legal guardian. He held my hand tightly as he signed, giving me a smile once the paper was finished, I retured the smile.

We were sent out of the basement and returned to our car. I now had a guardian again, in my eyes Josh always was my guardian but now that it was legal and it was signed it felt different as if somehow things had changed more than I ever thought it could. We returned in time for dinner at the hospital. Josh walked me to my room, his jacket draped over one of his arms, while the other rested on my shoulder, holding me close as our footsteps echoed through the corridor. When we got to my room I was exhausted, this was my first time out since the accident and it was also an emotional exhausting day. Josh helped me get into my bed and get me situated and comfortable before plunking himself down in the chair next to my bed. It seems that guesture had happened so many times in the past month. Someone quietly coming in and sitting in that chair. My mother, Adam, Hope, my friends, Jay, Mina, Jess, and of course Josh. He sat there for a moment until the scilence was interupted by a nurse bringing in my food and setting in on the swinging table next to me. I looked down at the food, dry chicken, what looked like a spinach salad, a bottle of juice, a small bun and a single serving on yogurt. "Thanks," I muttered dryly as the nurse left the room, she smiled and nodded in return.

Josh stood up, "As much as I'd love to stay and eat that ummmm...food," he joked, "I should really be going. I have to work tomorrow but I'll come by in the evening." He gave me a quick hug, making sure to avoid the food tray before grabbing his jacket. He paused at the doorway one arm holding his up against the door frame. "Thank you Sky. For coming with me today and being so supportive. I really do appriciate it."

"Anything I can do to help my new guardian," I winked and he chuckled.

"I love you sky,"

"Love you too Josh." With that he was gone.

I had a restless sleep, images of my mother popped into my dreams, both alive and dead. I woke up many times, sitting straight up, breathing hard and sweaty. Eventually I gave up on sleep, pushing the thin hospital blanket off of my body and slipping into slippers I exited my room. The hallway was dimly lit and empty apart from a few gurneys that littered the walls. I walked towards the physical therapy section and found the room where I had excerised just a few days before. The door was open a crack and a sliver of light emitted onto the floor. I listened closely, my ear pressed to the door. There was no sound that I could hear, I poked my head in. I short figure sat hunched over a desk, forhead resting on palm and eyes locked to a computer screen. I gave the door frame a light tap with my knuckels to make my presence known. The head turned around to show a womans face, her hair was piled high ontop of her head, but in all honestly the first thing i noticed was the absents of her left arm. "Hi, I'm Kerry. Not to be creeoy at all but are you Skyler?"

"I am..." I rocked back and forth on my feet, uncomfortably shifting my weight.

"Sorry! I am friends with Mike, he's your physio therapist right?" I nodded, "I was actually going to be giving you your therapy today, Mark thought it would be a good idea for me to talk with you and stuff, since I have a similar injury. I was actually just reading your file on the computer, seems like its been a rough month for you." I nodded again. "Oh come on Sky! Don't be nervous! come sit down, that is if you're not heading back to bed."

"Oh no, I actually couldn't sleep."

"Alright! If you want we could start on your session right now? I know Mina and Jess were going to swing by later, then you could have some more time with them. Would that be okay?"

"Sure," I looked at my watch, it was 6:30 in the morning, Mina and Jess said they would be here at 9. That leaves plenty of time.

"Why don't you come sit on this exercise ball," Kerry motioned to the bright blue ball that sat on a small yoga mat. I gently sat on the ball, slipping off my slippers. She handed me some weights and an rubber tention band and ran me through multiple strengthening moves. By the end I was sweating, Kerry was a wonderful person, She told be the basic details of her injury and how she knew Mike. Turns out Kerry saved Mike when they were serving in Afganistan together. She lost her Arm in her next tour there 2 years later. She was a brave woman, she asked about my injury, my family, school, it made me feel like she cared. The fact that we were both missing as arm made me feel as if I could trust her and that she really understood what I was going through. "Thank you so much Kerry...I really apriciate your help."

"Of course darling! I'm sure ill be seeing you soon, I'm generally here with Mike. Feel free to pop by!" I gave her a quick hug and put my slippers back on before closing the door as I left.

Update on my school situation, So far the teachers and the government aren't even talking anymore, and it looks like the whole first semester may be lost. Home schooling isn't an option because it is marked by the teachers. So i have a few options, Loose a semester and possibly the rest of the school year, use another provinces curiculum and home schol from that however I'm not quite sure if that is even an option, or I may be moving by myself to another province and go to school for the year. Neither pleases me.

Thank you so much! DONT FORGET TO COMMENT!
