Chapter 11

Victoria stared in awe with her mouth wide open, “you look like you’ve seen a ghost ma, you okay” Danny asked showing his perfect smile with his perfect dimples. Victoria smiled and whispered “it’s you, damn you even sexier up close, mmm mmm mmm” she thought she said that sentence in her head but knew she didn’t when he started blushing a little and responded “I really didn’t know how to approach you at first sweety, that’s what took so long. You see ima hood nigga, you not no hood girl so I had to play this easy, so I wouldn’t offend you or make you think I was thirsty or something, I don’t know, I been wanting to say something to you but I wasn’t sure if you had a man or something, but I found out that you didn’t and decided to go ahead and take my chance today” Danny said while holding his hand out to her,

“I believe you’ve already received your check, come on I have something planned for you, I hope you didn’t have plans for the day.” Victoria smiled “how you know I got paid today?” Danny turned his head and said “Ashley and I have become very good friends, that’s how I knew when you would be at work and when I could have our gifts delivered to you” Danny could see Victoria starting to frown up, “aww baby girl, don’t be mad at her she was just trying to help me and – “ Danny began to say but Victoria cut him “oh no I’m not mad at Ash I just wish she would’ve told me it was you. I knew I saw you a few times but you never would say anything to me. Besides I’ve been going insane trying to figure out who was sending me things, I’ve been wanting to talk to you too, but Victoria Scott don’t go after a man, no matter how fine he may or may not be”

Victoria said while chuckling, “may not be? Don’t play yourself shawty, you know I’m fine and I know for a fact that you feelin me just as much as I’m feelin you” Danny said laughing, before Victoria playfully punched him and walked away. Danny quickly turned, winked at Ashley and walked behind Victoria following her out of the boutique.  “So where exactly are you taking me today sir?” Victoria said cockily, knowing he was right behind her. “It’s a surprise, I hope you like it” Danny said as they got on the escalator. Once on the first floor, Danny walked Victoria to his car where there was a single rose laying on the passenger seat, he kissed her hand and passed it to her, “for him to be such a so called hood he sure is being extra sweet, I don’t know any sweet hood boys” Victoria thought to herself as she thanked him for rose and he closed the door once she was safely in the truck.

He walked over to the driver side, got in and started the ignition. “Victoria may I ask you a question?” Victoria nodded, “Why are you working? Why isn’t a man taking care of you? Are you afraid to go somewhere with me?” He asked all at once before she could answer one. She giggled a little to herself and responded. “Well Danny, I am working because I like the feeling of being independent, you know working for my own money, no matter how much money my parent’s try to throw at me. The only man that takes care of me and looks out for me is my heavenly father, and my daddy. And no I am not afraid of you, should I be?” she said kind of worried.

Danny saw the worried look on her face and grabbed her hand, “No there’s absolutely no need for you to be afraid of me, I come from the streets but my mother didn’t raise no dummy, I know how to appreciate a good woman when I see one. Ashley told me that you don’t have a boyfriend, why not? You’re so beautiful, smart, and hardworking, you must be one of those crazy ass bleach your clothes, burn down your house, and key your car type of girlfriends.” They both burst out in laughter. “You’re an idiot, for one I’m happy your mother raised you well, I applaud her! And no I’m not crazy at all, I’m single because I dated a little boy who didn’t appreciate me. He loved to get high and drunk and take out his anger on me, not to mention a while after finding out we had a miscarriage, not even a week later he was caught cheating, I found out it was two girls, and he got one of them, Roneshia, pregnant.”

Danny shook his head and looked over to see a small tear falling from her face, “ma I’m sorry you had to go through that. Roneshia nasty ass aint nothing but a hoe. She done fucked like 6 people I know. When we were in shool, I swear she sucked up any dude willing to pay bout $20, she has no respect for herself. I can’t believe he’d cheat on someone like you, I would never” he said, Victoria began to smile a little, “now there’s that gorgeous smile again. Don’t ever let a dumb ass immature nigga like your ex bring tears to your eyes. He isn’t and was never worth any of your time.

A man should never raise a hand to his woman, or any woman. A real man wont bring harm to your life, he wont hurt you, he wont tear you down, if he does, he not a man he’s a bitch, my momma taught me that a long time ago. Don’t ever let me see a tear form in your eye for that bitch ass nigga, do you understand me Victoria?” Danny said with a slight increase in tone, from anger, not with Victoria but with her ex. Victoria nodded her head agreeing and smiled at Danny.

Although Michelle, Ashley, and her mother Gina had spoken similar words to her numerous times, for some reason it felt so much different coming from Danny! She looked out the window and wondered where they were going. She was so amazingly beautiful to him, he couldn’t understand why anybody would want to hurt her. Danny and Victoria shared a nice conversation before they made it to their destination.
