He Dresses Up As Santa:

ETHAN:

Every year since your daughter was born you'd have Grayson dress up as Santa and surprise his niece the day before Christmas. But this year Grayson was in a whole other state celebrating with his new girlfriend and her family. You decided not to carry on with your tradition for the year since you couldn't find anyone else to dress up. "Mommy, is Santa coming today?" Your five-year-old daughter asks with her eyes wide in excitement. "Not this year honey, he's too busy with making sure the elves are doing their jobs. I'm sorry bug." You say, twisting one of her dainty curls on your finger. Your heart dropped when she poked her trembling bottom lip out and started to cry, explaining that Santa no longer loved her. You did your best to provide comfort but to no avail. In fact, you were trying so hard that you hadn't even noticed Ethan came home from the store.

An hour or so later there was a knock at the door. You assumed it was Ethan and he'd forgotten his house key so you walked over and swung the door open revealing a chubby man with a big, fluffy white beard and soft red suit. "I thought I'd stop by and see my favorite little girl before I made my rounds. She still lives here, right?" Ethan asks in an old man's voice. Before you could answer your daughter had already run into the room with a wide grin set on her face, shoving you aside to get out the door. "SANTA!" She squeals, holding her arms up toward him. He smiled through the fuzzy facial hair and scooped her up in his arms. "Mommy said you were too busy to come to see me this year." She pouts, making you look like the bad guy. "Well I was busy, but Mommy called and told me that I needed to be here and she wasn't going to take no for an answer. So here I am!" He says, winking in your direction. Your heart was so full as you watched the pair sit on the couch and talk about what she wanted for Christmas while you silently typed it down in your notes. "That certainly is a list." 'Santa' laughs, with the small girl perched on his knee. "But I think I can manage and get you some of those things. It might be a little hard to fit a giraffe on the sleigh through." He explains, making you laugh at your daughter's request. "It's okay Santa!, Oh and can you bring my Daddy marbles?" She asks, making Ethan scrunch his face up in confusion. "Sure honey, but why would he need those?" He asks, intriguing you as well. "Because Mommy is always saying he lost his." She explains with a completely straight face, making both of try and not burst into laughter.

Santa stayed for another hour, chatting away with her until he got an emergency call from 'The North Pole'. "Looks like the elves need me. How about you go color me a picture for when I come and leave gifts tonight...okay?" He asks, helping her down. With a peck on his cheek she waved a goodbye and ran to her room. Ethan stood up and came toward you, looking down the hall before grabbing your hips and smirking. "And what can I get you for Christmas?" He asks in a suggestive manner. "My husband." You tease, pulling the beard down some to plant a sweet kiss to his chapstick coated lips. "I can do that." He whsipers, pecking your lips once more and running out the front door. You rolled your eyes at his antics and sat on the couch for him to return.

Not even ten minutes later he was coming back through the door the red suit forgotten, with grocery bags on his arms. "I'm back!" He greets loud enough for Sophie to hear him from her room. Seconds later she was running down the hall with a look of worry on her face and pulling on his arm until he was down at her level. He nodded, making shocked faces at whatever she whispered in his ear. "Thank you for telling me." He says to her, keeping a completely serious look on his handsome face. "Mommy. Soph says you kissed Santa while I was gone." Ethan says in a stern voice, his eyes smiling up at you. "It's true. I'm so sorry Ethan. But I was on the naughty list and thought that a kiss would get me on the nice list." You explain, leaving a double meaning that your daughter was too little to understand. "We'll see about that." He winks, then carries on to put the food away. Merry Christmas to you!

GRAYSON:

Your son, Oliver was born on December 26, 2017, meaning this year was his first actual Christmas. You were excited about this year for two reasons the first one being that you wouldn't be spending it in labor and Grayson was this years Santa Claus at his familys annual Christmas party. He was beyond excited about his new role. It had been a tradition since he was a kid, every year ones of the Dads in his family would dress up as he old jolly fellow and spend time with the kids until it was time for him to 'get ready for his big night'. And to be perfectly honest, you were excited too, to see him all dressed up in the holiday outfit.

You'd arrived at his childhood home fairly early in order to be able to help Lisa and the other ladies in his family to prep the big meal, plus they all wanted to see Ayden before the house got to crowded. You were in the middle of making the apple pies when a loud "Ho Ho Ho." rung through the kitchen. You turned around the smile at the dork stumbiling into the room with a goofy grin and a big red suit. Ayden was not impressed and began to scream when 'Santa' tried to hold him. Graysons face dropped at the sight of his son being terrified of him, forgetting he was completely disguised. "Santa, how about we go see the other kids for a bit." Grandma Adrianne offers, grabbing his arm and directing him to the backyard where the others were playing soccer to pass the time.

As the day went by, Ayden refused any contact with Santa, waddiling to you whenever he was even in his sight. Grayson walked into the living room, sitting next to you on the couch. Ayden curled closer into your side, keeping his eyes glued to the cotton like beard. "Hello, little man." He says in a soft, elderly voice, hoping it would comfort his son into coming near him. But to no avail, as the tears started to pour back out. Sighing in defeat he walked away once again, more tha heart broken over the fact that he couldn't be around either of you in his outfit.

Later that night after everyone had gone home, Grayson went to shower while you helped Lisa clean up the kitchen. Oli played quietly with his Uncle Ethan in the livingroom giving you time to get things done without having to carry him on your hip the whole night. Grayson entered the kitchen with a sad smile and pecked your cheek. "Merry Christmas Eve." He mumbles, wrapping his arms around your waist and resting his chin on your shoulder. "Merry Christmas Eve to you too handsome. How was your first year of being Old Saint Nick?" You ask, wiping down the countertops. "Terrible. I couldn't talk to you, and my own son was scared to death of me. It killed me every time he'd see me and start crying because I was scaring him." He sighs, tightening his grip around your waist. "I think I know how to fix that." You say, wiggiling from his grasp and grabbing his hand to bring him to the livingroom. Oliver sat with his back to you while he and Ethan stacked the colorful blocks as high as they possibly could. "Oli, look who Santa brought!" You say enthusiastically. It took him a moment to properly stand before turning around and looking up at the two of you. "DADA!" He screams, shocking all of you since it was the first time he'd said it. "That's right buddy, I'm Dada." Grayson says softly, getting on his knees to open his arms out to his boy. He glady accepted and ran straight into his arms, planting a wet, sloppy kiss to Graysons bearded cheek. The smile on both their faces told you they were more than happy, relieving you. "Dada? I've spent the last hour trying to get him to say Uncle E. Trader." Ethan grumbles like a child and knocks over the block tower. Oh, Christmas with the Dolans was your new favorite thing.
