The room was silent, the Cullen clan all sat in their upstairs living area, no pun intended. The news played it was another story about the disappearances in Seattle. No one dared to break the silence, everyone to deep in thought about who could be behind it, that was except me.

"This is terrible and all but can't we just say it's the Volturi and move on? I mean they had no problem taking my brother." I said somewhat bitterly.

"Even so, we can't sit by and watch them build an army." Carlisle said and Jasper nodded.

"A vampire is strongest in their youngest state." Jasper said looking deep in thought.

"What are you guys going to do about it? You're sure the hell not going to throw yourselves into a war." I said and everyone went motionless, they knew she wouldn't like any answer they'd give her.

"You would wouldn't you? Why what's so important that'd you'd risk all of your lives, a couple of civilians from Seattle?" I question and Esmae let out a sigh, they were keeping something from me.

"Esmae?" I asked and she looked to me with sad eyes.

"We thought it'd be better to keep this from you, to keep you in the dark."She said my eyes squinting looking around at everyone in the room.

"What's going on? Carlisle." I said looking to the man who led this group, he would be the one to make the decision.

"There was a time when we almost went against the Volturi but thanks to your brothers sacrifice we didn't have to." Carisle said just making everything I thought I knew seem to be unimportant compared to this.

"What? What does Luca have to do with you and the Volturi?" I said letting that I knew part of the secret slip my lips.

"So you know of the adoption." Carlisle said with a sigh.

"Edward knew it wouldn't take you long to figure that out, you're just so smart." He said with a light smile.

"But yet not smart enough to know you all knew and were lying to me, especially you two, I really thought we were closer than that." I said looking over to Rose and Emmett, Rose looked away while Emmett watched me with wide guilty eyes.

"Don't distract me. What did Luke do?" I said turning back to Carlisle.

"We really should get Edward here, he made the deal." Carlisle said sounding slightly on edge.

"But you approved it, I know how things work Carlisle, I've done my homework on vampire clans. It'll always come down to your approval." I said and he looked away to Esmae who just nodded.

"Your right. Aro threatened to come take you and force your transition, I told him I couldn't- we wouldn't allow him to do so. To avoid a war and ultimately keep you safe, Luke spoke with Edward giving his plan to make his deal with the Volturi." Carlisle budged, and I realized it was not that different from what I had already knew. Luke made a sacrifice, but he saved more than just my life. He saved the Cullens too, and that's something I can't be angry for.

"I'm not angry but why would you of started a war, for some girl you didn't even know?" I asked and they all looked around sharing the same smile on their face.
