A knock on the door caused me to wake from my deep sleep. I looked over and noticed Jacob had already left for work.

Before I could even get out of the bed, the guest had invited themselves in. When I left my room and entered the living room I saw Marie standing there looking at the pictures that sat above the fireplace.

"I didn't know you had such an extensive history with these mutts." She said looking at a picture of me and Sam's entire back, the day we went cliff diving.

"It's not like you stuck around long enough to notice," I said and she kept a neutral expression as she put the frame back to its original spot.

"The house is nice. Jacob and his friend did a good job fixing it up."She said and I eyed her suspiciously.

"A little small though." She added. There it was, I knew she could never just say anything nice.

"That's alright, it's not like Jacob and I need to hide from each other on separate ends of the house," I said burning her right back.

"How about a tour?" She asked and I just shrugged. Whatever got her out of here quicker.
I showed her all around the house except for one room which she quickly realized I was avoiding for a reason.

"What about this-" She said as she reached to the handle and opened the door.

"Holy hell." She let slip out as she walked into the room.

"Are you-" She went to asked but I cut her off.

"It doesn't matter. It doesn't change what's happening tomorrow." I said and she sighed. Marie was instantly flooded with regret because what she saw in front of her was a younger version of herself and she hated it.

"It does matter. Does your husband know?" She asked and I nodded.

"Alright, then we're gonna need a new plan." She said and I rolled my eyes.

"It's too late for a new plan Marie. They are coming tomorrow and you're the one who set this one in motion." I said and she took a deep breath.

"I didn't know you had gotten yourself knocked up." She said and I scoffed.

"Why would you care anyway? The only child you cared about wasn't even yours. Why the hell would you care about mine?" I questioned and she looked away.

"Do you really believe that?" She asked and I scoffed.

"You abandoned me. Your flesh and blood, you left me to be taken care of by vampires. How could I believe anything different?" I asked.

"Maybe because I knew they could do a better job than I could." She said and I threw my arms up angered.

"Did Edward tell you how he left me? They all did for months with no phone calls, no nothing. Do you know who's never left me? Jacob, the pack. No matter how many times I tried pushing them away. So before you go praising Edward and his family you should know the facts." I explained and her eyes widened a bit.

I guess Edward never told her.

"You're right. I haven't been here to know how you've been living. Josh was right then, I thought it had to do with his mutt of his own but I see now. They truly are your family." She said and I nodded.

"And that's why I'm doing it tomorrow because no one hurts my family."

"Where the hell have you been, loca?" Embry said as I walked into Sam's. All the boys were shirtless as always wearing jorts.

"You know me, adulting." I said hugging the warm, perfectly tanned boy.

"You know Seth won't shut up about you getting him that job down at your store." He said and I smiled.

"Maybe I should stop by and see Lydia."

"Maybe I should call and see if I can work with Lydia." The boys mimicked the younger wolf.

"Sounds a lot like Jake if you'd ask me." Jared said and I couldn't help but laugh.

"I know those boys are like two peas in a pod." I said with a bright smile.

"So now that your a misses does that mean you can't hang with your best buds?" Jared asked with a fake whimpering lip.

"After we kick some vampire ass tomorrow we'll hit the movies as we used to," I said to him just as Paul walked in.

"I'm so in. Should I pick you up on my bike like old times?" He asked and I rolled my eyes as he draped his arms around my neck, hugging me.

"I don't think my husband would like that, hotshot." I said and we laughed this time Jacob walking through the door.

"Dude! That's my wife." Jake said and Paul put his hands up in mock surrender and I couldn't help but laugh.

I love my boys.
