Robin stayed in the room that was provided for her, until a young maid came and told her the ceremony was about to begin. She sighed and stood up from her place on the window seat, she didn't want to go down, but she also knew they'd all find a way to get her down there, one way or another.
Sighing once more she left the room and made her way to the east court yard, where everyone was waiting. She met Caspian on the way, although he seemed deep in thought and did not notice he was walking beside her, until he turn tight and ran smack into her, and casuing her to ram into the wall, then slid to the floor.
"Ouch." She muttered. Caspian shook his head.
"Sorry," He reached down to help her. "not really watching."
"Yeah," She took his hand and stood. "what were you thinking about anyways?" He shock his head again.
"Are you okay?" Robin glared at him for changing the subject.
"I'm perfectly fine." She started to walk off, and he slowly followed, back into his own thoughts again. They finally came to the court yard and the crowd parted for them, giving them a clear path to a stage type area. At the very middle a twisted tree stood leaning out over the edge of the cliff. No Telmarines stood up there, and only a few Narnians did: Glenstorm, Reepicheep, Trumkin, Trufflehunter, Cornelious, and Bulgey the bear. Robin took her place beside Glenstorm, just as the Pevensies walked in followed by Aslan.
The crowd parted again, and the four walked up the steps to the opposite side of the Narnians. Aslan stood before the Narnians. Caspian stood before the crowd.
"Narnia belongs to the Narnians, just as it does to man." Caspian started. "Any Telmarines who want to stay and live in peace are welcome to. But for any of you who wish, Aslan will return you to the home of our forefathers."
"It's been generations since we left Telmar." Said an over-seer in the crowd.
"We're not referring to Telmar." Aslan said. "Your ancestors were seafaring brigands. Pirates run aground on an island. There they found a cave, a rare chasm that brought them here from their world. The same world as our kings and queens." Everyone looked to Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy. "It is to that island I can return you. It is a good place for any who wish to make a new start." Everyone in the crowd looked at each other to see who would oblige to going.
"I wil go." Said general Glozelle. "I will accept the offer." He walked through the Telmarins and Narnians toward Aslan.
"So will we." Prunaprismia said. She held her little new born son close to her chest and was lightly bouncing him up and down. Lord Scythley stood next to her, and walked forward beside her. The three stopped before Aslan.
"Bacause you have spoken first, your future in that world shall be good." Aslan told them. Then he blew out a long breath upon them. The tree beside Robin started to groan and creak. Then it started to un-spin itself until it was like two tress with the same roots and branches. The crowd gave 'oh's and 'ah's as the tree created a see through door.
The group of four (adding the baby) walked forward a bit cautiously, but they went through the tree none the less. Although, they never seemed to make it to the opening, before the disappeared.
"Where did they go?" Someone in the crowd demanded.
"They killed him." Someone else said.
"How do we know he is not leading us to our death?" A man asked.
"Sire." Reepicheep walked forward. "If my example can be of any service, I will take 11 mice through with no delay." That seemed to shut everyone up. Aslan smiled at the little thing, then turned to the kings nad queens of old. Robin had been watching them, but now she turned away and starred at the ground.
"We'll go." Peter said walking forward.
"We will?" Edmund asked, a little shocked. Peter studied his siblings.
"Come on. Our time's up." He turned about and walked toward Caspian. "After all..." He pulled his scabboard from his belt and handed it to the prince king. "...we're not really needed here anymore." Caspian looked a bit taken back, but then grabbed the sheath.
"I will look after it until you return." The king said. Peter looked slightly downcast.
"I'm afraid that's just it." Susan said. Peter turned to her. "We're not coming back." Robin flinched at the words. Her neck stiffened and she moved it around, only to hear to pop quietly. Then the tension was gone and replaced with dispear.
"We're not?" Lucy asked. She took a small step back. Peter walked toward the younger siblings.
"You two are." He said, then looked at Aslan. "At least, I think he means you two."
"But why? Did they do something wrong?"
"Quite the opposite, dear one." Aslan answered. "But all things have their time. Your brother and sister have learned what they can from this world. Now it's time for them to live in their own." Lucy looked down, in a sad mood.
"It's all right, Lu." Peter said, walking back to her. He took her hands in his, and Lucy looked up at him with tear brimmed eyes. "It's not how I thought it would be, but it's all right. One day you'll see, too." He turned toward the Narnians. "Come on." And he pulled her forward. Lucy gave a small smile, but she was much more gloomier, than before.
Robin still stared at the ground, her body still a little tense, but everything relaxed when those two small hands wound their way about her chest, and pulled her close. Lucy's head buried itself into her shoulder and she pulled Robin as close as she could. The shifter hugged back, her head bent down atop the girl's.
"I'll see you around." Robin said quietly. Lucy nodded into Robin's shirt. Robin chuckled and pulled her away. Lucy's eyes still threatened to release tears. "Hey, don't worry. Everything will work out in the end. And you'll come back." Lucy nodded again, and with a small smile moved on down the line.
Susan and Edmund hugged Robin next, but their's weren't nearly as long, nor as hard, as their sister's. Then came Peter. He pulled Robin into him, his arms around her neck, while her's around his chest. She placed her head against his shoulder and everything relaxed.
"No need to say goodbye." Peter whisped, then pulling away he walked back to his siblings.
Robin was looking at the ground again, but she knew what happened. Susan kissed Caspian. She couldn't help but release a laugh when Lucy leaned in and whisped to her brother's:
"I'm sure when I'm older I'll understand."
"I'm older and don't think I want to understand." Edmund said.
Susan came back over to her sibs and for a few moments they just stood there and stared at all their friends, and family. Then by some silent que, they each turned and walked into the tree gate. Lucy, turned about before entering and looked at everyone one last time. Robin had looked up, her face free of emotions as she watched her family disappear. She gave Lucy a small smile and nodded. The girl smiled back and walked through the tree.
A single tear dropped from Robin's eyes, before she escorted herself from the area and to the stables.
