People keep talking this morning about a new player to the Game but I can't catch a single part of the conversation, nor ask anyone since I don't have friends anymore.

Cameron didn't even come to get me this morning and weirdly I missed it. I felt bad about the night before. But he had been a jerk.

I stopped at the bathroom on my way to class. This morning I had been pushed around by my mother who wanted me to quicken my pace since she had to leave early so I barely had time to do my hair.

I start pulling my hair in a ponytail, trying to make it look not too bad when I hear a sob. I instantly feel bad and look for feet under the closed doors and knock on the one where there is someone. I can't just stay there doing as if I've heard nothing.

''Are you alright?'' I ask.

The person opens the door and I try to hide my surprise when I see Liz.

''Oh no.'' The words leave my mouth and I give her a hug without thinking that we aren't friends anymore.

''It's alright.'' She says through a sob.

''What's going on?'' I demand.

''So now you're interested?'' She asks bitterly.

''I've always been interested in your life, I'm just bad at showing it.'' I deflate, looking down.

''I know.'' She admits with a small laugh and by that action, I know that she's forgiven me.

''So what's going on?'' I demand once again worried.

''Jake doesn't like me that way.'' She says looking to the ceiling. ''I shouldn't be surprised, I knew at first it was only for sex but I think I'm in love with him.'' She laughs to herself, ''I was so stupid to think that since he's my friend, it would be different.''

''I'm so sorry Liz, I wish I had been there,'' I say as I hug her again, trying to squeeze out the pain.

''I'm sorry too, I overreacted. I wasn't even dating him.''

''It doesn't matter, I should never take a boy from you.'' I give her a towel so she can get her ruined makeup off and once the tears stop coming down, she applies new mascara.

As I look at her, something rattles my brain.

''Hey, did Jake start to play?''

''Wait, you don't know?'' She asks stunned.

''Know what?''

She shakes her head, ''Oh please, tell me I'm not the one delivering you the news.'' She sighs as she takes out her cell phone, going on Instagram.

She searches for a picture until she finds it and passes me the phone.

Ayden is kissing a girl in the picture and the quote says: 'I'm in, get ready.'

''I can't believe this.'' I laugh bitterly, ''I even saw him kiss the girl last night but I didn't think it was for the Game.'' I put my head in my hand in disbelief.

Just as I give back Liz's cell phone, we hear people shouting in the hallway. We both look at each other before running out of the bathroom.

Ayden is there, giving bro hugs to his baseball teammates, all congratulating him for his first kill at the Game.

And then his eyes settle on me, grey as ever, his blond hair messy and sexy and I'm there, dumbstruck by my ex-best friend. He nods toward me.

''Hey little queen, looks like you have someone else to kiss now.'' He smirks, that arrogant cocky smile I rarely saw on him and my insides churn. For once I wish I was having a nightmare.
