Lizzy stands back, staring at her work through the mirror, which is me.
All week long Cameron has ignored me, just like Ayden. I ate at another table with Liz to avoid an awkward situation. Daisy even returned to the table and ate with all my new friends which made me sick to the stomach.
Surprisingly, the thing that made me feel even worse was not talking to Cameron.
''Are you going to tell me what happened with Cameron? Have you won or something?'' By something she meant if he had won but I knew she would never want that, just like me. I couldn't let him win but something in me keeps tugging at my insides like maybe, he was starting to be someone more than just a Game to me. That was scaring me.
''It's not that big of a deal, we both got into an argument but it will pass. So have you told Jake I was coming tonight?'' I ask changing the subject.
''Yeah but I'm not sure he told Ayden. Anyway, let's get this done with.'' She grabs my hand and pulls me up. We both walk downstairs to be stopped by my mother.
''Ah Lizzy, how are you doing?'' She asks as she looks at us both.
''Very good, thank you. What do you think about Alexa's hair?'' My mother looks at me before touching a strand of my hair.
''Beautiful, as always.'' She smiles lightly. ''Go now, don't be late.''
''You can't be late for a party,'' I tell my mother with a small smile.
''Have a good night.'' She tells me before going upstairs, probably to see my father. I push that thought far away.
We walk across the yard and arrive at Ayden's house in no time. A lot of people are already there, but no one is outside due to the temperature. We make our way inside, having no coats since it wasn't a long walk.
People are already grinding on each other, and many red cups are on the floor or being chugged down. We make our way through the maze and get to the middle of the dance floor. We start dancing together to the rhythm of the music, our hips swaying, our hands in the air. We swirl, jump, and do stupid dances.
I was starting to like my night.
My head turns at one moment and I see Cameron dragging Daisy on the dance floor. I almost stop dancing, my heart aching for an unknown reason as he pulls her hands around his neck. I look back at Liz to see she saw it too.
''I need a drink.'' I yell into her ear.
''A strong one.'' She retorts.
We both make our way to the kitchen and I bump into Darwin. Both of our faces change into big grins.
''I missed you!'' We both yell at the same time as we hug each other.
''How come you weren't with us?'' Darwin asks.
''I had a fight with Cameron.''
''Again.'' He laughs and nods toward Daisy and Cameron. ''Looks like he's trying hard to get you back.''
''Is that really how he expects to get me back?'' I laugh incredulously.
''Well, it's Ronny, you can't expect him to do some giant gesture.''
''Two can play at this game.'' I wink at Darwin and he nods, knowingly.
''I'll wait for you on the dance floor, get your drinks first.'' We both high-five and go our own separate ways.
Lizzy and I get to the counter and I realize I still haven't seen Ayden. I push that thought away and she pours me three shots in a row.
''You ready?'' She asks smirking.
