Lexia sat on the bed in her room in the hotel they were staying in and crossed her legs. She thought about her plans and smiled at herself then lay down and laughed loudly with her legs up. It did not matter to her that Dylan or Ezra were looking for their parents because she had different plans. It is true that she is a vampire princess but even with her lineage she still had to answer to the supreme vampire family which governed the world and that was Ezra's grandfather, King Python. This made Ezra's mother the only true vampire princess and the only way to become a true vampire princess Python had to die and since Luna had been turned into the cure her claim to the throne would cease to exist. Lexia knew Luna had been tested on to become the Cure that the locals often spoke about which put her out of the running as the vampire princess. The plan was simple, Ezra and Dylan would kill King Python and Lexia would rise and rule as the new queen. She knew Ezra wouldn't want to be King because all he cares about is his mother and as for that mage, Isis, Lexia had plans to enslave all witches and mages alike in her bid to rule.

Lexia smiled to herself, being content with her thoughts. She got up and looked through the window into the city and screwed up her face at the sight of humans. She hated them; to her, they were like ants that often got into situations that they shouldn't be in. They were easy to squash but they always had that pesky annoyance that they called hope. It was sickening she thought as she walked away from her window to turn on the television but she stopped when she heard a knock on her door. He was always the polite one she thought as she walked towards the door and opened it.

"How can I help you Dylan?" she asked in the sweetest voice she could find.

"May I come in?" he asked politely.

Dylan walked into her room slowly, seeming hesitant so she motioned for him to sit down which he did and they began their conversation.

"Lexia," he began, "I know we aren't exactly what we call friends but I need a bit of advice. You see Isis is my umm..." he trailed off.

Lexia was growing impatient because as much as though she was helping him she could not stand Dylan being around her. According to her, he reeked of death and she was not prepared to meet him at the end of her demise.

"What is it, Dylan?"

"Isis is my mate or so she says. But I do not understand this mate thing completely. Is it possible to be rejected?"

This was incredible yet disappointing news, Lexia thought. She could get Dylan to work for her if she threatened Isis but to Lexia Isis was such a pest and besides it might prove to be a difficult task if she killed her. She chuckled at the thought,

"My dear Dylan that's wonderful news. A mate is a person that you are meant to be with forever but I am not sure of the case when it comes to death which is yourself. It has never happened that a mage is mated to death or had it been heard of that death was mated to anything since mates represented sharing your life with someone and you as death represented the end to everything so this will be interesting. I don't believe she can reject you." she gave him an honest answer but she wasn't sure about his current situation.

Dylan smiled at her and asked, "Are you alright? I mean we've never really had a proper conversation since we met."

"Oh, Dylan I'm fine. Why don't you ask what you really want to ask?" she looked straight into his eyes trying to compel him but she couldn't compel him, his power blocked hers.

"Lexia I know that you are up to something."

"Something like what Dylan?" her eyes turned scarlet as she stared at him intently.

Dylan's lips curved into a smirk and his eyes turned black then he held Lexia's chin steadily as he looked into her eyes. Her eyes started to bleed as she fought his mind piercing.

"You won't get what you're looking for in my head Dylan," and she shoved his hand from her chin.

Dylan got up from her bed and walked out of the room closing the door before smiling at her. Lexia was furious, where did he learn to do that? She took up a chair and flung it on the door.

"Shit!" she exclaimed.

She paced around the room deep in thought at the fact that Dylan's powers were growing faster than she could anticipate. No matter how powerful a vampire was it was no match for death. In fact, nothing was a match for death so it would know everything. Dylan had not fully ascended into being Death and until he did his powers were limited but not that limited that he could not figure things out. Lexia was caught up in her thoughts that she did not see Despero causally sitting on her window seat. She was slightly startled when she saw him but she did not show it. Despero casually strolled into her room and looked it over then his eyes rested on her.

"What do you want old man?"

"Old man?" Despero chuckled, "What I want you would not be able to give so that question is invalid. However, when I saw you my curiosity peaked and I knew you reminded me of someone. Your grandmother was a self-proclaimed Vampire Queen was she not? Queen Estelle if I'm not mistaken."

"Yes she was my grandmother and what is it to you?" Lexia was getting irritated.

"No need for drama, all that's left to say is to be careful whose path you follow," Despero replied with a smirk then he walked up to her and ran his tongue slowly along her neck. Lexia tried to release herself from his grip but Despero was too strong.

"Mhmm, you taste good. Love to stay and chat but the strip club beckons," and with that, he disappeared into thin air.
