“Often when we realize how precious those seconds are, it's too late for them to be captured because the moment has passed. We realize too late.”

CHAPTER 17

(MIKAEL’S POV)

“ . . . she going to be okay?” I heard someone whisper, audible enough for me to hear.

“I don’t know, but let’s just hope that she will.” Another voice responded to the earlier question and it was that of a woman, well seems like all the voice I heard were that of some women. Curiosity got into me so stirred and moved my body to sit up but moaned in pain when almost all of my joints and muscles hurt, like I haven’t moved a bit for a whole day. Immediately, I felt a soft hand on my arm, restraining me from moving further. I opened my eyes and say Viktorya’s face.

“Mika, don’t move yet, your muscle are still stiff from the drug.” She said.

“D-drug? What drug?” My voice sounded hoarse from sleeping for I don’t know how long. I looked at the other females behind her. Stephanie and Laurice were right behind Viktorya while Cassandra sat on the chair at the end of my bed, all of their eyes on me.

“Uhm, Mikael . . .—”

“And where’s Joshua?” I demanded with my head starting to throb, it felt like I have a hangover or something. But the throbbing increased when I got confused when the four eyed each other with meaningful looks. I can’t think straight enough to interpret their actions with this damn headache. Frustrated, I rubbed my temples to ease the pain. “Call Joshua now, please.”

“Mikael, I-I’m so sorry but Joshua left.”

 . . . left . . .

“Left? What do you mean he l-left? W-where?” My heart pounded like crazy, threatening to break my ribs, and my head feels like it’s gonna split when I tried to remember last night. Damn! What kind of drug did I ingest? Despite my muscle’s protest, I managed to sit up and leaned on the head board, realizing that I’m wearing only my underwear and Joshua’s large V-neck shirt. I look like a total mess, having still my make-up on my face and my hair in all direction.

“You tried to leave last night,” Cassandra said as while emphasizing the word ‘tried’. “Apparently, he knew but he didn’t you to so he drugged you and went with Lucas.”
