38. Cold

There's a chill in my bones I can't shake as I walk through the lanes blitzing with summer,

The cold spreading through my limbs and tingling with the warmth from the sun,

My fingers feel numb in spite of the tepid heat obstinate to embrace away the cool,

But how do I tell the sun
that it's trying to bring to life
something so cold and forgotten
that even an eternity's worth of summer would fail
to pool?
