"No tears, no sobs could ever undo the damage you've done. So, no, I won't cry for you."
• • •I cook the pancakes over the fire, deciding to cook them the old fashioned way and not use my powers. The smell of pancakes wafts through the cabin and slowly wakes the boys up, one by one.
Darkon wakes up first and quietly sits next to me. We sit like that—me cooking and him watching and waking up—for a few minutes in a comfortable sort of silence.
William is the next to wake up. He stumbles out of the cabin, muttering under his breath and is instantly greeted by the plants who all roar their appreciation and cocoon him with vines, branches, and leaves, as if creating a second sleeping bag for him.
Darkon and I exchange looks and chuckle lightly at the situation. By now, Gage is sitting up and scanning the room, assessing the situation at hand.
A small twinge of annoyance fills me. I had hoped that Gage would be able to sleep later. He didn't get too much sleep and I hope he'll be alright. I guess, though, he's used to not much sleep by now.
Asher wakes up as Gage stands and they all begin to take turns getting changed in the small bathroom as I finish cooking the pancakes.
When it's time to eat, Boaz, Kolton, and Nekoda are still asleep.
"FIRE!" I tell at the top of my lungs, making everyone jump.
"Where?!" Boaz shrieks excitedly.
Nekoda, Boaz, and Kolton all the and leap up, forgetting that they are in sleeping bags and they all sprawl to the ground in a tangled heap of arms, legs, and sleeping bags.
I burst out in laughter and am soon joined by the others that are already awake. The red-faced three on the ground grumble under their breath as they stand and try to regain the shreds of their dignity.
"Come get breakfast," I call and they all rush over, forgetting my somewhat cruel and entirely hilarious method of waking them up.
After drowning my pancakes in syrup, I have to eat them with a spoon. I sigh happily, loving the sugary sweetness.
"Got enough sugar there?" Gage teases, spreading jelly across his pancakes.
I wrinkle my nose and stick my tongue out at him in response. In my head, though, I can't help but wonder exactly how much food Victoria brought to the cabin while we were getting ice cream...
After we eat breakfast, the boys are all sure to thank me and I can't help but feel happy. I always cooked for my family (except for the days where I was locked in the box or out of the house) and no one ever even thought to thank me. It's nice to be appreciated once in a while.
"We better hurry up and get this place clean so we can get to school on time," Gage announces, rolling up his sleeping bag.
"Actually," I declare. "We're not going to school today."
"Huh?" Kolton says. "Am I the only one confused?"
"For once," Nekoda replies flatly, "No."
"What do you plan we do instead?" William asks, his green eyes slight with mischief. "Because I know a bank that has weak security this time of day..."
I just kinda stare at him stunned. William, the boy who fights against discrimination and works toward peace in all areas, is suggesting we rob a bank? When did that happen?!
"Don't look at me like that! This bank is a terrible place that delights in stealing from the poor and buttering up the rich to get more money from them," William defends. "It's like they're begging to be robbed!"
"Good to know," Boaz says slowly, a grin forming on his face.
I sigh slightly, knowing they're all gonna want to rob a bank now. Great.
"You guys, why don't we listen to Rage for a moment?" Asher suggests with a light laugh.
"Yes," Darkon agrees. "And hopefully she'll have a plan that doesn't involve a criminal record and sever years in prison?"
"Dammit," I say flatly, rolling my eyes. "There go all my ideas."
"Well, I guess that means I get to do all the planning!" Gage decided cheerfully.
"NO!" We all exclaim in synch.
We all know just how crazy Gage can get with his planning. He's the worst kind of strategist—the dramatic, flamboyant kind. Every now and then, he'll get on this mood, this groove of planning and create these elaborate plans that are always extreme and borderline ridiculous.
"Alright!" I burst out, trying to regain a bit of control in our chaotic conversations. "I do have a legal and awesome plan for the day, if you guys can handle dealing with me for one more day."
"One more day?" Asher says in a strange voice.
For a second, I think he is merely repeating my words. Then I look over and see he is holding a note.
"Found this under my pillow," He announces, raising it in the air. "Anyone know what it's from?"
Boaz grunts, "No. Should I?"
"Oh, it's probably just an old note that you just found," I suggest, intervening to hopefully keep them from figuring out the truth.
"Maybe," Darkon murmurs, looking at me carefully.
"Probably what it is," Kolton agrees before yawning.
"So, where are we headed to then, if we aren't going to the bank after all?" William asks.
"I'd tell ya, but then I'd have to kill ya," I sing out teasingly.
"Well, the suspense and curiosity is already killing me..." Gage says before trailing off.
"I'll be sure and go to your funeral," I tell him flatly.
"Let me guess, we'll figure it out when we get there?" Nekoda guesses with a sigh.
"Now you're getting it!" I exclaim cheerfully, grinning widely.

Q: Anyone travelling for the holidays?
A: I'm going on a week long road trip with my family. *sighs* And I probably won't have much/any access to Wattpad during that time...
