I popped a few pills for the pain as I got dressed. I wore a comfy pair of jeggings, and a hoodie, too fatigued to get anything else on.

I grabbed an apple before leaving the house, noticing the time. But as soon as I exited I realized that my bicycle was still at school ... hopefully. I was probably not going to see it again.

Walking would take so long, and I didn't think I'd manage through it, my body was still in pain. But I had no one else to call, Mel and Lexy were probably at school by now, so I took a heavy breath in and began my way, but a deep voice that came from across the street stopped me.

"Babe! Let's go or we are going to be late." Jess said as he hopped into his car. I didn't want to rely on him all the time so I was about to reject his offer, but he drove over to me and patiently waited for me to get it, tapping the steering wheel with his thumbs. I shrugged and entered. I had nothing else to lose.

"Thanks." only when I strapped in did he drive. The car ride was silent, and I didn't mind it, mentally taking pictures of the moving scenery out the window. Not long after we were already at school, I was about to hop out and thank him once more but he was already out of his seat and by my side, helping me exit the car. Ah such a gentlemen. I rolled my eyes playfully.

"You didn't have to." I whispered, feeling tingles in my stomach. Butterfly, or dragons? I couldn't tell. Where is Hiccup when you need him?

"Don't worry about it. Hey can we start the recap sessions today? There will be muffins." He said almost in sing song, he made anything sound good with that voice of his. It also sounded as though he was trying to cheer me up, I honestly felt like shit.

"You had me at muffins." I joked, trying to mirror his enthusiasm. He chuckled. But before we could move Mel and Lex showed up. Though Lexy looked a little annoyed. I made a note to ask her about it when we were alone.

"How are you feeling?" Mel asked, giving me a long warm hug, I cringed from the tenderness of my scrapes and bruises. But I'd do anything for her hugs. One that I needed really badly. I sighed out, all the tension leaving my body. I was a sucker for warm hugs.

As soon as she let me go Mel's boyfriend strolled over. He greeted her with a kiss on the corner of her lips, making her blush. They had such a couple goals relationship. Wesley was a loyal heart and I trusted him with Mel. We all were pretty close too. Wes was about to hug me when he saw Jess. Both of them tensed.

I didn't like the tension that I sensed brewing so I started talking. "Okay, we will meet you later, I have to go print out some notes for Jess." Lex just rolled her eyes, looking away from us in distaste.

I was taken back and confused, which is something I found myself feeling a lot lately. That's when it hit me, maybe Lexy had a problem with me being with Jess. But I shook it off, Lexy wasn't like that. I decided to hold in my questions and walked away, knowing that Jess was following after.

"Hey." He pulled me to a stop, we were now in the quiet hall way leading to the library. "What is wrong?" He quizzed, I bit down at my lip, trying to hide how off I was feeling, and just like that my lip began to burn. I went to swipe at it but Jess was quick to stop me.

"Do you always do that?" He asked, pulling out a neatly pressed blue handkerchief. He pressed it against my lip and then showed me. It was bleeding.

"Oh sorry." I mumbled sheepishly before taking the cloth from his hands and dabbing at my lip.

"You do that a lot, don't you? Especially when you get anxious." he said, holding the library door open for me as he studied me.

"Oh really? How did you know that?" I asked making my way to the photocopier.

"I have eyes Babe." And I shivered. Usually when anyone else says it, it seems like a normal name, but from his mouth, it was something different. I gulped, trying to remove the dryness that filled my throat. We were just friends, so I thought that I should have started to behave accordingly, Jess was too nice to the point where it felt like I was using him.

"We only have to photo copy the important ones. The others I will give you short notes and teach you myself." He nodded and took the book from me, I had all the important one's highlighted. "Hey, I got it." I said as I tried to grab it out of his hands.

"Let me handle this. You go care for that lip of yours." I shook my head, running my tongue along the source of discussion, there was a slight metallic taste to it, but it was fine.

"Jess, I'm all good. It isn't that bad." And I grabbed it. I gave him a smug look, which probably looked like a retard with two double chins. He turned to the side, trying to hold back his laughter, but it was to no avail and he cracked. Why am so weird? I groaned, hiding my face in my hands.

And that's when Jess laughed harder, he laughed so hard that he stumbled on a stray book on the floor and knocked into a shelf, making a few books fall at his feet. Seeing that I began laughing.

"Shh!" Came the librarian, making us sheepishly apologize and grin at each other. My mood was instantly lifted. I quickly began photocopying my notes with Jess stood to the side of me.

"So, erm this may seem a little forward. But are you single?" I choked on my spit, not expecting that. I turned to him with an agape mouth and wide eyes. I just gave him the weirdest face I could make and now this?

"Wh-what?" My voice broke off, creating a stutter. I was about to bite my lip again, but it was too damaged and tender for that.

"Do you have a b-" he was interrupted.

"Shh!" That damn librarian had it against me and what could be my only love life.

"-boyfriend?" He whispered.

"No." I shook my head, looking down. I couldn't meet his eyes. I had just decided my resolve of being okay with just being friends and there he goes again. I turned to a new page to copy.

"Good." He said then walked off. And finally I could breathe again, only then did I realize that I wasn't. What the hell was that?!

Not long after he came back with a book in his hand. I managed to catch a glance at the name. It was Rich Man, Poor Man. One of my ultimate favourites.

"You should read that." I said, shrugging. "The twist at the end will kill you." He lifted his head from reading the synopsis, giving me a lost look that looked too cute on him.

"Huh?" He asked, having not paid any attention to what I had said. I chuckled, knowing the feeling. As soon as I picked up a good book or manga, you've lost me.

"Read it." I said again which made him smirk.

"Already did, was thinking about using it for the book review." He said.

"No way?!" I cringed from the glare that the librarian was giving me. "You already read it?" I whispered.

"Yeah, I just find it interesting that everyone doesn't turn out the way they seem. Image is just a facade in this book. And those who don't care for it, make it far in life." Unbeknownst to him, he became even more attractive to me in that very moment.

"That is exactly why I love that book." I said, finally done with the photocopying, just in time for the bell.
