I was sitting alone in the cafeteria, both Mel and Lex were part of the cheer squad. I used to be the mascot, but those sweaty smelly things were just too much to handle. After trying to diet for almost two days straight I decided to get some carbs in with a burger.

I was about to dig back in when I caught sight of him. He was a magnet, and my eyes couldn't help but get drawn to him. I watched as he dropped into a seat at a vacant table. His jeans lifted up a little to expose two miss matched socks, that was very cute of him. Moe gap as some would say.

Everyone was just staring, and I knew that he noticed, but he didn't pay any attention. He pulled out a home made lunch and began eating. Not talking, not looking at anyone, just concentrating on his food.

I started to feel bad. He was sitting all alone. So I got up, took my things with me and slid into the seat in front of him. He raised his head to see who had dared to interrupt him and that was when he saw me.

Suddenly his eyes changed, not in color, but there was just something different about it from a second ago. I couldn't exactly explain it, they just looked softer?

"What are you doing here?" He asked, his voice was barely above a whisper so that no eavesdroppers could hear us. Contrary to my inability to blush I felt a wave of embarrassment flush against my face. I was definitely over stepping my boundaries. I was about to apologize and walk away, but I think he saw the panic in my eyes. So he smiled. His canine teeth were sharper than the rest, and my thoughts went right back to an olden eighties werewolf movie.

"It's okay, I'm not going to chase you away. But, haven't you heard?" he questioned, leaning forward playfully. I decided to play along too, and mirrored him. His strong cologne wafted in the air around me.

"Heard what?" I gasped and questioned, feigning weariness.

"Rumor has it, that I killed a kid, and buried them in my backyard." he gave me a dead serious look before chuckling. "That is one of my favorites by far." I held my chuckle in. "Wouldn't want to associate yourself with a killer like me, or else you'd could end up dead too." He said sarcastically, and with that I leaned back and laughed, he gave me another one of his rare heart stabbing smiles, just watching me smack my thigh and laugh unattractively.

After a second or two, I finally sobered up. I felt a sting in my cheeks from my fit before. I decided to ignore it and began to finish up my fries. "I really don't understand what is with this town and making up rumors. It is frustrating." I sighed, I had my fair share of those some time back.

"Yeah. I understand." He shrugged. "If you ever need anyone to rant to. I am your guy." He smiled. I prayed that he would never stop, because dear lord did that look good on him. He had a dimple on his left cheek and as soon as I saw it, I had a sudden desire to poke it.

"Thanks. How are your parents?" I asked, trying to make small talk.

He licked sole sauce off from his lips, swallowing a bite of his sandwich. He opened his mouth to answer, his canines on show. Heaven have mercy.

"They are good. Mom finally opened that bakery she had always wanted." He said, smiling at the thought. "I'm glad that after all the issues we've had, she can finally focus on her dream." he looked a bit guilty, so to not focus too much on that I continued our conversation.

"Oh thank god! Your mother's mint chocolate centered muffins are to die for!" I almost jumped out of my seat at the thought. My mouth began to salivate and my arms were quickly covered in goosebumps. Yes they were that good. Dieting is hard man.

"Maybe you could stop by, I am actually working there. I wouldn't mind treating you to a muffin." He said, matching my ecstatic energy.

"Oh man. That would be great. Thanks Jess." To which he shrugged.

"It wouldn't be a big deal, take it as a thanks for having to help me with the missed out syllabus. We can even study there when my shift is done. So it would be like hitting two birds with one stone." And before any of us could add in another word, the bell rang. I hopped up and packed my things away before following the crowd out.

I had Physics class, I sucked at physics, if I wanted to even dream of a pass I would have to work twice as hard. I waved Jess goodbye, and he saluted back, before walking away. I absent mindedly found my seat in class, I didn't realise that I had already entered.

After scribbling all my notes down, I had a sudden urge to pee. I quietly walked up to the teacher and asked her politely. She allowed me to leave and I didn't waste any time.

Just as I was about to leave the washroom a few girls walked in. They stopped and stared me down. I felt myself tense, my body going into full alert mode. I have had too many bullying incidents in my past. They were always about my looks and boys.

I quickly looked down at myself to check where they had been staring. I was in a thin red hoodie and tights, so nothing too bad that they could tease me about. I looked decent, I knew that.

One of the girls scoffed and rolled her eyes. "I can't believe he'd actually talk to her. It's no wonder he'd go for the school whore. She's always flinging herself at all the guys anyways." After my incident, these sorts of rumors had spread about me, which is why I rarely involved myself with boys. I knew for certain I hadn't talked to anyone's boyfriends, but her tone made me overthink and heightened my anxiety, slowly a dull ache began spread across my chest. I was not a whore.

I attempted to walk away but then the other girl walked up in front of me. She flicked my forehead in disgust. "You can practically smell all the men she's been with on her." I rolled my eyes, that was a low blow, especially for them. They weren't virgins either.

But I held my tongue and began for the door, I didn't want to escalate the situation. But those girls wouldn't let me pass. "Leave me alone." I said as the one grabbed my hand roughly, her slightly long nails, digging into my wrist painfully.

"Only if you leave Jess alone. You are so sick. As soon as someone new shows up, you pounce on them. How can you be such a slut?" And there it was, the most cliche line ever used, yet it still hurt me. I was a good person, well I tried to be. I hadn't done anything to them, I didn't even know their names.

"You're a dirty lier. You can lie to others about happened before, but we see right through your little miss innocent act." My hands trembled from what they'd brought up, I didn't like to talk about those things.

"I am not!" I shouted and yanked my arm away, rushing out the washroom. I didn't bother seeing where I was going until I bumped into someone and we tumbled to the floor. The person's heavy body winded me for a few seconds before they hurriedly got off.

"Oh shit. Are you okay?" The deep husky voice asked, and as my teary eyes cleared I saw him. I was looking directly into his deep brown eyes. It helped ground me for a bit, and to get my breath back.

Before I could answer him the girls walked out the bathroom, searching for me. I began to try and get up to sprint, but Jess saw my wrist, saw me looking at the girls and made the connection.

There was a sudden blood lust in his eyes, one that scared me, he used to have a violent streak when he was younger. He got up and angrily stalked up to the girls.

"What did you do?" He asked, his body almost shaking in fury. I scrambled up, and rushed to him, holding him back. He turned to look at me, his bicep flexing under my grip. I felt a drop in my stomach, he was strong. If he wanted to, he could have sent me flying across the room. I began to slowly let go.

Maybe he'd seen the panic in my eyes, or just decided to back down. He turned back to them, clenching his fists, holding himself back.

"If I ever see you anywhere close to her. You will be sorry. Pray that the devil goes easy on your souls." He ended it off in a sinister whisper.
