Emma opened the door to Jonny
"Mummy's getting married and I'm going to be a bridesmaid" she jumped up and down excitedly
"Hi" Jonny said to his daughter picking her up
"Hi" he said to Jac
"Hello"
"What's this about you getting married ?"
"Well yes I am getting married"
"She's marrying Fletch" Emma said
Jonny's face was shocked
"Fletch? Adrian Fletcher? Fletch?"
Oh yeah Jonny knew Fletch
"Yes. What's wrong with Fletch" she said defensively
"Nothing he's just so .....not you"
"Pardon?"
"Well you know, he's a geezer, he's a player......he's a nurse"
Jac scoffed "unless it escaped your notice so are you"
"And look how well that turned out"
"Emma baby go and collect your things whilst I talk to Daddy for a minute"
Emma skipped off
"The reason we didn't work out Jonny had nothing to do with you being a nurse no matter what I might have said"
"Alright so what's so wonderful about Fletch?"
"I don't have to talk to you about Fletch"
"Well I guess after you're married my daughter will be living in his house so yeah you kind of do have to talk to me about Fletch"
"Jesus. Come in"
Jonny entered Jac's house. They normally handed Emma over on the door step
"Tell you what why don't you ask Emma. Here she comes"
"Ok. Emma darling so what's Mummy's new boyfriend like"
She climbed up on his knee "I love Fletch Daddy. He's funny and silly and I really like it at his house. Ella and Theo and Evie are nice. Mikey smells" she giggled
Jac suppressed a laugh
"And when mummy was poorly in hospital he helped uncle Sacha look after me and he was nice to me when I was upset"
Jac's heart melted a little more with each word Emma said and tears were threatening to fall
"That's nice sweetheart I'm glad you like him. Go and get you coat and shoes on hun"
"Satisfied?" Asked Jac
"Well he's got her well and truly wrapped round his finger hasn't he"
Jac laughed "when you see them together you'd see it was the other way round"
"How long have you been together?"
"Officially not long but we've been dancing round each other for over a year "
"Well I hope you know what you're doing and if this all goes to hell just make sure my daughter isn't hurt"
"You don't think I've considered that?"
"Depends on how much in lust you are with him"
"Nor that it's any of your business but  I love the bones of the man and it's not gonna go to hell"
"You do know you're talking about you. You and relationships" he said scathingly "good luck Fletch" he gave a hollow laugh "come on Emma "
"Bye bye baby. Have a lovely time at granny Maconie's"
"Bye mummy" she gave Jac a tight hug
"Love you" Jac said
"Love you" Emma replied
She waved as they walked away . God that man was irritating but she couldn't deny he'd given her the most precious gift. Emma
