❝  if it doesn't burn a little

then what's the point

of playing with fire? ❞

He was completely captivated with her as he sunk down to his knees. He lifted his hands gently and swept a strand of hair out of her face.

"May I? I would love it if-" she surprised him by grabbing his wrists in her hands.

"Yes. Yes please." She slowly guided his hands to the sides of her face, letting each and every barrier she'd ever built up around her consciousness slide into oblivion.

He touched his fingers to her temples softly, resting his palms on her cheeks. He took a deep breath before gazing in to her eyes, and finally penetrating her mind. He saw the entire, beautiful labyrinth that was her brain. He was amazed, and even more so when he found what he was looking for. It was huddled in the back corner of her mind, half awake and half in slumber.

"I can wake it," he whispered and a look of fear entered her golden yellow eyes. "I believe you could reach your full physical potential by unleashing it. You need to have complete control." She nodded once, looking into his lovely eyes. They calmed her greatly.

"I know my mind better than the back of my hand. I'm confident." He smiled warmly at her. "Lets do it."

She gasped as the pent up anger was released. It flooded every section of her brain, and she saw spots of red in the overwhelming rage. They both focused their minds inside of the rage, drawing out physical benefits without giving in to its current. As they did so, tendrils of yellow gold wrapped themselves around her fingers, snaking up her arms and around her body until her skin glowed with it. Then as quickly as it had begun it stopped. Loki was filled with joy as she slumped forward, resting her head on his chest.

"Can you hold it?" She nodded slowly as he began to pull out of her mind, leaving her to balance it on her own. "How do you feel?"

"Really good, actually. Exhausted mentally, physically I think I could run a marathon. Right now, just get up and go." He laughed at her enthusiasm, as he followed her to stand.

"You take my breath away." She looked puzzled, and then looked down at her yellow palms, turning them over. Her golden eyes widened taking in her new colour.

"Wow. Oh my god..." she stopped and turned to look at the man behind her. "I have a platform. I'm clearly...so obviously a mutant. I'll join the Avengers with you. The world will see me, and eventually they'll see the truth about mutants." Her face was filled with both shock and excitement. "This could help create peace. An entirely new era. The age of mutant-human cooperation."

Loki took her hands in his, his head bowed. The way she spoke amazed him, and he couldn't help but long to be closer to her. She moved to take steps toward him, stumbling into him. She broke out in laughter, covering her face in embarrassment.

"So much for that marathon," she shook her head and her wrapped her in a gentle hug. "I think, bed is a good idea, I should sleep."
