You hold me close in whisper in my ear,
Something that every girl should want to hear.
"You are beautiful." he says to me.
But this is something I can never be.
I carry scars, burdens, a heavy heart.
But he only says this is a part,
of my beauty and fun.
And he says "I have only begun."
"You are brave, strong, and independent."
"But If anything I am dependant!
"On you, our love."
He directs his eyes above and smiles, looking at the stars.
"You once said that that's were you are.
"Above everyone else, high in the star light."
I say, "Yes you are right."
He looks at me, and I him.
As he pulls me closer and grins.
"You are beautiful." he whispers in my ear once again and I cringe.
I respond, "But I can only singe."
And he replies, "You don't singe, you don't burn. But in turn,
"You bring people to life, like a flame."
He walks me home, the weather tame.
As I kiss him goodbye I feel the same.
I destroy the beautiful, wreak the precious.
It's good to be cautious.
And if he notices he turns around in his tracks, looking back at me, dutiful.
I see it in his face, and he only mouths, "Beautiful."
