A crush

"Just walk up and say hi to him," Marta said to me as I stood at my locker, staring at my crush, Cody.

"I could but what if I fall on my face," I asked, feeling discouraged. I stood there.

I have like Cody Davis since freshman year, and he doesn't even know I exist. My friends have suggested I talk to him or better yet fake date Brandon Miller, one of my friends. Yeah, it's not going to happen.

When Brandon suggested it this past summer, I thought it was ridiculous. Who the hell fake dates someone? Not me.

Plus, Cody doesn't even know I exist. Trust me; I tried to get his attention. I can't speak when I'm in the vicinity of him and look like a total dipwad.

"She still figuring out how to get that dink's attention," Casey asked as him, and Brandon walked up.

"He's not a dink. He's my dream guy," I sighed as I leaned against my locker.

"Would that be before or after aliens land on earth," Casey asked as Brandon snickered. I gave him an annoyed look.

"The offer still stands," Brandon mentioned as I ignored his comment.

"I'll figure it out," I told them as I quickly closed my locker and went to class.

"When are you going to make a move," Casey asked Brandon, who gave Casey a look.

"He's right. If you don't make a move, you'll blow it with Andi," Marta reminded him.

"Easier said than done. It's not like Andi is the most astute person around," he told them.

"Because she's freaking oblivious," Coop said, walking up to them.

In case you're wondering, Cooper is my younger brother. Brandon is Brila's and Caleb's son, Marta is Mariana's and Kevin's daughter, and Casey is Gavin's and Ty's son. Now that we got that straight let's continue.

"Brandon, my sister, is like our mother, oblivious to the point, that if you showed her Santa, she wouldn't even notice," he told him.

"That's reassuring," he sighed.

"I still think you should fake date and in the process, she falls in love with you so we can get out of this godforsaken love drama you have going," Casey told Brandon.

"I think I got an idea," Marta said as they all looked at her. Yep, my friends were about to conspire against me. Not sure if I should be scared or not.

At lunch, I sat there, admiring Cody. He was the kind of guy every girl wants to date, funny, smart, and adorable. I doubt he even knows I exist. I needed to find a way to get his attention. As I sat there pondering my ideas, it finally hit me. I knew exactly how to do this.

At the end of the school day, I waited until he was alone and decided to walk up to him. As I reached him, I tapped on his shoulder. He lifted his head and looked at me; swoon.

"Did you need something?" He inquired as I snapped out of my lust, induced fantasy.

"Oh, right, I was wondering if you would like to hang out?" I casually mentioned trying to play it cool.

He looked at me as a smile curled upon his lips. That was finally it. He was going to say yes. I can't believe it. Finally, after all this time, Cody would be mine.

"Hey Marta," he greeted her happily as she walked up to me.

"Hey Cody," she looked at him a bit strange.

"So, Andi asked if we wanted to hang out," he mentioned to her. Wait. What? That's not what I asked.

"Well, duh, Andi and I always hang out," she rolled her eyes.

"Great, then I guess we're all hanging out together," he smiled as he closed his locker. I stood there as he talked to Marta like they had always been friends. Then I realized something. He only agreed because she was going to be there.

Here is a plane crashing and exploding as it hits the ground. I'm that plane.

"You know what? I just remembered I have to help my papa," I lied trying to save face.

Marta looked at me confused, while Cody didn't look at me at all except for Marta. I turned and hurried out of there. Great, not only does my crush not realize I have a crush on him, but he has a crush on Marta. Fantastic.

I give up.

It looks like the kids have a bit of an issue. Don't worry, between the parents helping; chaos is about to ensue. Guess who comes to the rescue? Yep, they're going to need all the help they can get.
