"It's as if she had a stroke. Many people who have those are either paralyzed from a certain point in their body down, or just one side of their body. But for Bay, she seems to be paralyzed from her neck down but only on the left side." Olivia explained to Elliot's children. Eli had curled up on Bay's bed beside her and was keeping her company while the other kids stood in the hall and learned about what trouble their sister was currently facing.

"So, she can't walk?" Lizzie breathed, as she held on tightly to Maureen's hand.

"No. She can't. And the doctors are thinking it may be permanent." Elliot frowned, as he rubbed his fiance's back.

"No, it can't be. Bay cannot be paralyzed forever! I will go to every physical therapy session and I will help her learn to walk again!" Lizzie yelled before she stood up and quickly walked into her sister's room.

Bay looked up and gave Lizzie a weak smile.

"Hey." She breathed.

"You are going to fucking walk again whether you like it or not."

Physical therapy was scheduled around Lizzie's schedule. She refused to let Bay go through this alone. Olivia and Elliot had to go back to work so they could pay for the hospital bills, so Lizzie made it her mission to get her sister walking again and using her hand once again.

"Alright, Bay, I want you to try and stand." The therapist spoke, as he stood in front of her. Bay wasn't paying attention to him. She was watching a boy about her age, as he started to walk on a new prosthesis.

"Uh, I know he's cute and all, but you need to be able to walk again." Davy smiled, and Bay rolled her eyes.

"Don't embarrass me." She huffed, and he nodded.

"Then stand."

Davy kept his hands to Bay's waist as she used her good hand to push herself up. It felt weird being only able to feel her weight being put onto one leg because the other one felt like it had just fallen asleep, minus the weird tingles.

"Good! Now, just try and walk as mindlessly as you do normally." He spoke, but as Bay tried to do that, she fell. Davy had moved a bit, and she fell face first onto the floor, breaking her nose in the process.

"Shit, I'm sorry!" Davy exclaimed, but Bay just fanned him away as she awkwardly rolled over. She didn't want to see if that boy had noticed her because that meant she would feel even worse about her current situation.

"Can we just be done for the day?" Lizzie asked as she rushed in. She had to study for a test so she had been watching from outside the room.

"Yeah, let's get her in her chair."

Fall after fall, Bay started to give up. She was starting to accept the fact she'd be living in a wheelchair, and she was wishing that Walter would've tried to kill her in private so she would've died instead.

"You know, there is these fancy light up strips you can put on your wheelchair. They make it look like a rainbow as you roll down the hall." The boy spoke, as he sat beside Bay.

They were waiting for the PT room to be cleaned up because one of the patients had gotten sick.

"Cool." Bay breathed. She shifted her left arm a bit to make it look like less of a dead limb.

"So, what happened to you?" He asked, as he lifted his legs up and put his feet on the window sill. That is when Bay noticed that he was missing both legs below the knee.

"I got hurt," Bay whispered. The boy nodded as he ran his fingers through his long blonde hair.

"Me too, girl." He spoke, as he nodded his head a bit.

"I was at school and a boy grabbed me by my braid and slammed me against a brick wall. This is the aftermath." She breathed. He reached over and wanted to shake her right hand.

He noticed.

"I'm Weston, but everyone calls me Wes or W-Dawg." He smiled, which made Bay laugh.

"No one really calls you W-Dawg." She spoke, and he sighed.

"We weren't playing two truths and one lie, but if we had, you would've won." He smiled. They shook hands before he sighed.

"I was on my dirt bike, and my older brothers dared me to do this huge jump. I lost control and my bike flew to one side and I flew to the other. Both legs were crushed, and one was saved, but then it got bad again and here I am now."

"Whoa." Bay breathed, and he nodded. He looked through the window and saw as the custodian finished cleaning up the room.

"Are you still a patient here?" He asked, and Bay nodded slowly.

"Yeah. My parents have to be able to find me a place to stay soon. I'm being released tomorrow." Bay breathed.

Olivia and Elliot couldn't let Bay go home because she needed extra help that they couldn't give her at the moment.

"Hey, well let's break out of here. I still have some good upper body strength, I could push you." He smiled, as he flexed a bit. Bay laughed again, before shaking her head.

"I have to learn to walk or I'm going to be declared a lost cause. Thanks though, Wes."

Wes kept making funny faces throughout the whole therapy session, and it really did make Bay feel better.

She was able to stumble a few steps before needing her wheelchair, but by the time the session was over, Bay wasn't feeling good again. Wes pulled his jacket on before walking over to Bay as she waited for her nurse.

"In a world, where girls are pretty as you get hurt, I feel like boys like me were hurt just so we could be hurt together," Wes spoke, as he dropped a piece of paper into Bay's lap. He walked passed her and left the room, and Bay grabbed the paper. She opened it and saw he had given her his number.

A small smile grew on her lips. She may not be going home. And she may not be able to walk again. But, she did meet a boy who made her feel good, even if it was only for a few minutes.
