"So her lungs are full of fluid? And she's having a hard time breathing?" Wes questioned, as he sat beside his wife and held her hand tightly as the doctor explained to them what was wrong with Ivy.

"Correct. We started her on antibiotics, and she is getting breathing treatments to help her breath a bit easier."

"Is she going to make it?" Bay asked as she felt her heartache for her baby. She was so confused about how her daughter was already so sick and she was only an hour old.

"We believe that she will make it. But she may have breathing issues for the rest of her life. Maybe asthma." The doctor replied.

"But she'll be alive and we won't be losing our baby," Bay spoke, bravely. She brushed a few tears from her cheeks before forcing a smile.

"We want to see our baby. Is that possible?" Wes asked, and the doctor frowned.

"Not tonight. In the morning you can."

"There is no chance that I will be able to nurse her, huh?" Bay questioned.

"We have to feed her through a tube in her belly right now. Once her breathing issues are fixed, then she can start taking bottles." He spoke, and Bay frowned.

"Okay then."

Bay's siblings, mother, and Wes' mother came up to her room and listened to Wes and Bay as they explained what was wrong with their daughter. Shannon was having a hard time not crying as she thought about her first granddaughter being so sick.

"Guys, we can cry over this, and you know I will... but Ivy Blake will be coming home eventually. Hopefully by the time I leave. And if she needs an inhaler, she'll have as many as she needs to be able to breathe properly." Bay spoke.

"How did they not see the fluid in her lungs when they were doing the ultrasounds?" Olivia questioned, as she and Shannon stood side by side as they looked at their children.

"Mom, we can't think about that. We need to stay positive and just put our trust in the doctors. We need to try and not show off that we are worried because then our stress might rub off on Ivy." Bay spoke gently.

"Want us to take shifts with Ivy until you guys can see her?" Maureen asked, and Bay shook her head.

"I'd like all of you to go home and get some sleep. We will call you all later. Now, shoo. It's been a super long day." Wes spoke, as he moved away from his wife and started to usher everyone from the room. Once they all left the room, Wes moved back to where his wife was and he laid beside her. She sank down and Wes held her for several moments until she was starting to fall asleep.

"I know that you and I are trying to be strong, but I'm still scared," Wes whispered, and Bay nodded slowly as she kissed his nose gently.

"It's hard not to be."

Once Olivia finally made it home, after dropping the girls off at Kathy's house for the night, she was barely awake. She unlocked the front door and walked in, but she found herself more awake when she saw Nick laying on the couch with Noelle sleeping on his chest. Her arms were wrapped tightly around his neck as they both slept deeply.

She was wondering why Elliot chose to miss out on nights like this. Nights that Nick got to experience as Noelle's father because Elliot would never be her Dad.

"Nick," Olivia whispered hesitantly as she walked over to where her boyfriend and daughter were sleeping.

"I'm not snoring. I swear it's you." Nick yawned before he wrapped his arms a little tighter around Noelle's body.

"Nick, you are sleeping on the couch with my kid. Neither of you were snoring."

"Oh. Hey there babe." Nick smiled softly.

"Why isn't she in bed?" Olivia questioned.

"Because we were waiting to get a call from you telling us that Bay had Ivy. Did she have her already?" Nick questioned.

"She had to have a c-section. Ivy is in the NICU with fluid in her lungs and a feeding tube since she can't breathe enough to eat properly." Olivia replied. She sank down onto the coffee table and started to take out Noelle's braids.

"God. Is she going to be okay? How is Bay?"

"They think Ivy will make it. And Bay is just super tired and sore. She is trying to act brave, but  I can see right through it." Olivia spoke.

"Wanna go to bed? We can talk about this again in the morning." Nick spoke, and Olivia nodded slowly before leaning down and kissing him a few times.

"I'm so scared that my daughter is going to lose her baby. That Ivy will get sicker and there will be nothing they can do for her." Olivia whimpered, as she finally lost it all. She was trying her hardest to be strong, but it was incredibly hard since she didn't want to watch her child go through something that would completely destroy her.

Even before her siblings or mother showed up, a nurse pushed Bay down to the ICU so she could meet Ivy. Wes had been down there for a few hours, and he had been allowed to holding his baby for those hours. Now it was his wife's turn.

"Hey, beautiful. Ready to hold her?" Wes asked, from where he sat in the rocking chair and held Ivy as close as possible.

"Can I? Is she doing good?" Bay asked.

"She's doing better than last night, Mrs. Williams. She fought the oxygen last night, but then she still had to use it."

"And the fluid level? Has it went down?" Bay questioned, as a nurse came around and took Ivy from Wes, before laying her in Bay's arms. Bay looked at her daughter for the first time close up, and she realized that she felt like a whole person now that she got to meet and hold her child.

"It is still the same, but she's not even a day old yet. We will not give up until she's home with you two."
