WARNING: MENTIONS OF BLOOD/GORE, BUT THEY'RE VERY SMALL MENTIONS

"Oh my gosh, can you believe Lance's team? They're all ridiculous. I'm surprised they made it this far."

Sarah sighed from her bed, trying to focus on her book while her roommate, Bree, ragged on their goofy classmates. Sure, their simulation hadn't gone well, but they were all talented individuals, not to mention some of her best friends. "They're not that bad," she grumbled. "And I'd appreciate it if you'd stop talking about my friends like that."

"I'm just saying. They're losers, Sar, and you'd better be careful or you'll all end up like Keith Kogane."

At the mention of Keith's name Sarah's fingernails dug into the cover of the book. How dare she bring him up? Bree knew better than to do that. "Why don't you go and hang out with your other friends? You don't have to stay here with me."

"I know. But the difference between my friends and you is that you're actually smart."

Repressing a sigh, Sarah leaned her head against the wall, begging silently for a little bit of patience - just enough to get her through the night.

"Lights out in five!" she heard Iverson shout from the hallways. "Everyone back in their dorms, now!"

Bree turned to face Sarah with a wide smile. "Plus it's almost lights out. You don't want me to get in trouble, do you?"

I guess not. Sarah rolled her eyes and tried to focus on her book again.

It was then that she heard familiar voices from outside her room.

"We shouldn't be doing this."

"You heard commander Iverson! We need to bond as a team! We're going to grab Pidge, hit the town, loosen up, meet some nice girls, and-"

"I'm just-I'm just sayin' this right here, right now, on the record, this is a bad idea."

Bree groaned. Though she was facing away from Sarah, she knew she was rolling her eyes. "Idiots are going to get caught," she muttered.

Lance and Hunk. Of course. Immediately Sarah tossed her book aside and slipped on the closest pair of shoes, which happened to be her running shoes. She was in her pajamas - an oversized hoodie and a pair of running shorts - but she didn't care. Getting away from Bree for a little while was worth getting in trouble.

"Where do you think you're going?" Bree demanded as Sarah approached the door. "You're going to get caught, you know, and Iverson is gonna-"

"And I care... why?" Sarah couldn't open the door fast enough. When she left her room she found the two boys crouched near her door. "And just what do you think you're doing?" she questioned, copying the obnoxious voice of her roommate and leaning over to be more on their level. "Sneaking out? I could turn you in and Iverson would fall in love with me even more."

Hunk yelped and fell backward while Lance remained unfazed. "I should have known you'd come out," Lance grumbled. "You gonna join us?"

"Heck yeah. Get me away from my roommate. Let's go pick up chicks."

Lance snorted. "Then let's go!" He dashed a little down the hall and turned, Hunk and Sarah following close behind. While they ran Sarah quickly tied her curly hair back in a bun at the nape of her neck. They couldn't risk being caught, so the big hair had to be restrained for a little bit.

"You know, for someone in a space exploration program, you don't have much of a sense of adventure," Lance told Hunk. They reached the teacher's lounge and crouched down before they got to the huge window that showed everything inside.
